What a week! (3 days) Tuesday we had a very lovely trip to with another nanny and the summer activities were so much fun. Wednesday was our first visit to Lammas Land paddling pool which was perfect in the scorching heat. Thursday, after presents, as it was little T's birthday, we caught the bus into town and visited the Museum of Zoology. If you need somewhere cool to hang out in the heat I highly recommend this. And most exciting of all this little chap is now helmet free!!! What a momentous milestone he has reached on top of turning 2! 🎉🎉

Sharing this here. I've been meaning to write something about this subject but Laura has saved me the job.

If you read that in a stroppy voice…..you sensed the tone correctly, I’m absolutely fuming!

I’ve just seen one more professional on this app do the parenting community an injustice and I’m fed up with it.

Lately I’ve seen more and more content from professionals slating the Gentle Parenting movement! Stating that it’s ruining childhoods, it’s making teaching impossible, parenting harder and that it’s to blame for the increasing levels of childhood anxiety.

🤬Professionals who know better.

🤬Professionals who fully understand the four main parenting styles.

🤬Professionals who are simply rage baiting.

🤬 Professionals who should be using their platform to educate, not spread false information.

🤬Professionals who are ultimately trying to sell products based off of untruths.

They go on to describe scenarios of said Gentle Parenting and instead of detailing information about structure, boundaries and age appropriate consequences, they list things such as:

😤 No rules

😤 Parents placating aggression

😤 Children being in control of the household

😤 Children having an iPad every second of the day because they cry without it

😤 Parents asking if the child is sad mere seconds after they bit a chunk out of their brothers arm

THEY ARE DESCRIBING PERMISSIVE PARENTING!!!!!!

✋Permissive parenting increases childhood anxiety.

✋Permissive parenting removes opportunities for children to develop resilience

✋Permissive parenting nurtures screen addiction

✋Permissive parenting makes a teachers job harder

✋ Permissive parenting is NOT Gentle parenting!!

The REASON it’s so damn infuriating for me to see these platforms misleading parents…..is because Gentle Parenting is the answer to childhood anxiety, screen addiction and to be frank, any bloody hope that future generations will be able to get their sh*t together and run this planet efficiently and safely.

PLEASE do your own research and PLEASE consider AUTHORATITIVE parenting, AKA Gentle bloody parenting!!! 😮‍💨🥴😤

My walk to work through Coldhams Common this morning followed by a crafty day and an exploratory walk, for me, while the little man rode his bike very well. How have I reached my ripe old age and only just built one of these cardboard vehicles for the very first time?

Thinking about this week we got outside to feed the ducks, went for a walk in the rain, visited the park with our little car pals, washed petals in the mud kitchen and made marks in the wet sand tray.
Little T hates the swing and told me off for putting Larry on the swing. He came marching over and removed him. And somehow when driving to feed the ducks and visit the park he threw little Basil from the back seat and he landed in my cold cup of tea. I was so shocked to see him there when we arrived 👀 what a great throw little T.
