We can’t wait for the GM Skills Awards in July, where we’ve been shortlisted for the Partnership Project of the Year for our collaboration with Manchester City Football Club.
A key focus of our strategic collaboration has been the co-design and co-delivery of targeted, sector-based Access Programmes through Total People to upskill unemployed local residents and provide pathways to guaranteed interviews at Etihad Campus.
In 2024/25, over 200 unemployed local residents from the local area were supported through these Access programmes, with almost 50% of learners going on to secure work at Etihad Campus,
This initiative demonstrates a commitment to social value and provides tangible training and employment opportunities for local residents via Manchester City’s ambitious redevelopment of the local area, while also embodying LTE Group’s mission to create better futures together through learning, skills and work.

Colleagues across the LTE Group have been deeply saddened to hear that Will Nelson and Kayleigh Smith have been named as being amongst the victims who died in the tragic tram accident in Lisbon on Wednesday 3 September 2025.
LTE Group CEO John Thornhill commented: “We were deeply shocked and saddened that one of our colleagues, UCEN Manchester tutor Will Nelson, together with Masters student Kayleigh Smith died in the funicular tram crash.
"Over the weekend, I was moved to read the wonderful tribute from The Arden School of Theatre, and the many comments left showed very clearly the impact Will had and how much he will be missed.
“Our thoughts and deepest condolences are with Will and Kayleigh’s families, loved ones and their peers at this tragic time.”
