A brilliant session in the studio yesterday exploring masculinity through life drawing.

We looked to the past for inspiration, from the balance and idealised form of the Renaissance to the power and movement of the Baroque, the emotional depth of Romanticism, and the layered, contemporary interpretations we see in modern art. Each influence offered a different lens, and it was reflected beautifully in the work created. A huge thank you to our model for their presence, patience, and professionalism throughout. And thank you to everyone who came along and made it such an engaging and considered session.

Masculinity Through Art History – A Life Drawing Workshop on 30th April at with .

From Renaissance ideal to modern complexity: draw the male figure across time.

Join us for a life drawing workshop that traces the male figure from the poised, sculptural ideals of the Renaissance to the introspective, fluid, and constructed depictions of modern masculinity.

Over the course of the session, you’ll work from a live model in a series of poses inspired by different artistic eras. We’ll explore:

· Renaissance structure and idealized proportion (think Michelangelo and da Vinci).

· Baroque masculinity as emotional, flawed and human (think Caravaggio)

· Romantic introspection and brooding presence (think Caspar David Friedrich)

· Modern and contemporary approaches that embrace masculinity as complex, constructed and shifting (think Paul Richmond).

Whether you’re a complete beginner or an experienced artist, this workshop invites you to reconsider masculinity not as fixed, but as complex, constructed, and continually unfolding.

An evening of observation, expression, and quiet concentration.

In our latest life drawing session, the studio settled into that familiar rhythm, where time slows and every mark begins to feel intentional. Lines searching, shadows building, forms gradually emerging from the page.

Each artist approached the figure in their own way, some bold and expressive, others careful and measured, all completely absorbed in the process.

A sincere thank you to our incredible model for holding the space so beautifully. Your grace and strength bring these sessions to life. It is always a privilege to witness this kind of focus and dedication in the room.

There is something quietly powerful about a room full of artists focused on the human form.

Our recent life drawing session was an opportunity to slow down, observe deeply, and let instinct guide the hand. From bold gestural marks to delicate tonal studies, each piece carried its own energy and perspective.
