I apologise for the lack of posts recently, I have had to take time off due to ill health. However I'm back and I have lots of exciting things planned for this year. I also got married this summer, the name change threw a few people but it's still the same me!
I'm working my way through messages over the next couple of days. I have some availability left for 1:1's this year. If you haven't heard back from me, please let me know.
Here's a sneak peek as to what's happening in my 11+ group this year, if you've not already joined you'll find the link on this page by clicking 'Visit group'.

🎉Saturday shout-out🎉
Fantastic story writing this week using an image of a post-apocalyptic Earth. We've had some insightful discussion about how the Earth may have been destroyed, and whether it would be possible to live on another planet. What do you think?

🎉Saturday shout-out 🎉
This week our shout out is to our Year 6 pupils, who are anxiously waiting to find out whether they will be offered a place at their first-choice secondary school.
Monday 1st March is National Offer Day for secondary schools. For pupils who passed their grammar school exams, this is a nervous wait to find out whether they will be offered a place. Remember a pass doesn't mean a guaranteed place.
Good luck to everyone, please do let me know if you got the place you wanted 🤞🤞🤞
If things don't quite go to plan, there are other options including appeals. If you're unsure about anything, please reach out to discuss what to do next.

*Tuesday Tip*
This week we are looking at the Bodmas rule. This rule is really important as it tells us the order in which we need to do something. Countdown style games are great for practising this skill.

Fantastic work in fractions from T this week. We were consolidating existing knowledge using concrete examples, ready to move to more abstract work next week.

This week we are looking at Roman Numerals. Students need to learn these as part of the National Curriculum, and they may appear on the 11+ exam.
Follow my top three tips to be a Roman Numeral master. Can you solve the challenge at the end?

Celebrating success and recognising one's achievements is an important part of becoming a confident learning.
Each week we will be celebrating a success, whether it's creating a fantastic piece of writing (like today), putting effort into a subject we find tricky, or persevering to solve a problem. All successes will be recognised, no matter how small they are perceived to be.
Please also share your child or children's successes with us. We are here to celebrate all learners and their achievements.

*Tuesday Tip!* Every week Learn with Lisa will post a helpful tip for students studying for their 11+ exams. Our aim is to make learning fun, so this will often take the form of a quick game or activity to aid in a student's learning.
Today's tip is focusing on factors and multiples. It's really important for students to not only recite their times tables, but for them to be able to quickly recall related number facts. This will be helpful in answering exam questions in a timely manner.
Follow the page for more hints and tips for the 11+.

I thought I'd share a 'behind-the-scenes photo' this morning. This is my office set-up. I love to be surrounded by things that make me happy - mine is plants! What is yours?
I have a couple of pieces of equipment to help make online tutoring easier. The black rectangle in front of my keyboard is a graphics tablet. This makes annotating and drawing on the screen easier during lessons. I also have a tablet stand which allows me to use my ipad as a visualiser. Handy when I need to demonstrate anything practical.
