Year 4 carried out a detailed science investigation into evaporation, working carefully to plan and carry out a fair test.

Each group measured exactly 50ml of water into two measuring cylinders โ€” one sealed and one left open โ€” before placing them in different locations around the school for 48 hours. The chosen environments included the school kitchen, outside greenhouse, freezer, fridge and classroom radiator.

The children made predictions about which locations would show the most and least evaporation, and discussed the impact the lid might have. Throughout the investigation, they checked and recorded temperatures at different points of the day to support their findings.

After 48 hours, the groups collected their cylinders, measured the remaining water, recorded their data and drew conclusions based on the evidence gathered. A fantastic example of practical science, careful measuring and thoughtful enquiry. ๐Ÿ”ฌ๐Ÿ’ง

A Very Special Surprise Guest !
Year 4 were delighted to welcome Miss Warburton back for a visit at the end of the week โ€” and she made quite the entrance! She surprised the children by joining a game of voice guess who, speaking through headphones, and not a single pupil guessed it was her.
We then enjoyed a special VIPERS session using a text all about Miss Warburton, followed by an art lesson where we used our knowledge of facial proportion to sketch her portrait while she kindly modelled.
To round off the visit, the class were treated to a wonderful end-of-day story time, read by Miss Warburton for old timesโ€™ sake โ€” a lovely way to finish a special afternoon.

๐ŸŽจ Year 5 Explore William Morris Patterns ๐ŸŒฟ
Year 5 have been busy painting their own William Morrisโ€“inspired patterns using watercolours. They studied his love of nature, repeating motifs, and flowing botanical designs, then created beautiful patterned pieces full of colour and detail.
Their creativity has really shone through โ€” every artwork is unique, thoughtful, and wonderfully decorative. Such impressive work from our young artists.

Today, our Year 6 students had an insightful visit from our local PCSO team! They engaged in important discussions about the appropriate use of social media, the impact of bullying, and how to stay safe online. Itโ€™s vital for our young learners to understand these topics as they navigate their digital world.

Thank you to the PCSO team for helping us promote a safer community!

Year 4 used a fun and practical approach to practise dividing with remainders in Maths.

In addition to the usual counters and place value charts, the children also used Smarties to share amounts into equal groups. This helped them to clearly see what was left over and understand the concept of remainders. To finish the lesson, they even got to enjoy eating the Smarties they had used!

A great hands-on way to bring Maths to life. ๐Ÿฌ

Year 4 conducted a science investigation to explore whether adding different substances to ice affects the speed of the melting process.

Before starting, the children made predictions and discussed how to make it a fair test. They then tested salt, powdered sugar, hot chilli powder and vinegar, carefully observing and comparing the results. The class talked about which substances worked best, why this might be the case, and how the results linked back to their predictions.

A great example of practical science, curiosity and thoughtful discussion. โ„๏ธ๐Ÿ”ฌ

๐Ÿ’ƒ๐Ÿ•บ Year 5 have been choreographers in the making!
This week, our pupils have been busy creating their own dances, experimenting with movement, rhythm, and teamwork. Itโ€™s been brilliant watching their ideas come to life as they explored different ways to express stories and emotions through dance.
Their confidence is growing, their creativity is shining, and their routines are full of personality. From synchronised steps to imaginative formations, Year 5 have shown just how much talent they have. ๐ŸŒŸ
We canโ€™t wait to see how their choreography continues to develop as they keep moving, learning, and having fun. ๐ŸŽถโœจ
