Latest government data reveals that pupil absence fell last term. The absence rate for the 2024-25 autumn term was 6.5%, down from 6.8% in the same term last year. While this improvement is welcome, headteachers’ leaders have warned that there is still β€œa long way to go” in addressing attendance challenges. To ensure continued progress, investment in support services can help students stay engaged and on track.

How is your school addressing pupil attendance and the need for additional support?

Thought πŸ’ for the evening 🧑

There are many reasons why a Trust / School / Academy might change recruitment providers. Here are some key ones, that stand out for me:

Performance Related: πŸ”Ž

πŸ”Ž**Lack of quality candidates:** your current provider isn't delivering candidates that meet the required skills, experience, or cultural fit. This could be due to poor sourcing strategies, inadequate candidate screening, or a lack of understanding of the Trust / School / Academy needs.

πŸ”Ž** Slow turnaround time:** The recruitment process is taking too long, delaying crucial hires and impacting school operations.

πŸ”Ž** High placement fees:** The fees charged by your current provider are too high compared to the market rate or the value delivered.

πŸ”Ž** Poor communication:** Lack of regular updates, insufficient feedback, or poor responsiveness can be frustrating and create inefficiencies.

πŸ”Ž** Low candidate conversion rate:** A high number of candidates presented are not interested in the role or don't progress through the interview process. This suggests a mismatch in candidate targeting.

πŸ”Ž** Lack of specialised expertise:** The current provider may not have the necessary industry knowledge or expertise to effectively recruit for specific roles.
Experiencing high turnover as a recruitment business.

πŸ”Ž** High candidate drop-off rate:** Candidates are losing interest in the process due to the recruiter's actions or the length of the process.

Contractual & Financial:πŸ’·

πŸ’·**Contract expiry:** The contract with the current provider has ended, and as a Trust / School / Academy you are reviewing options.

πŸ’·**Better pricing:** A new provider offers a more competitive pricing structure.

πŸ’·**Contractual issues:** Problems with the existing contract, such as breaches or disputes, may necessitate a change.

πŸ“‰ Strategic Reasons:

πŸ“‰**Change in strategy:** A shift in strategy or expansion into new Trusts might require a recruitment provider with different expertise or reach.

πŸ“‰**Desire for a different approach:** You might want to try a different recruitment methodology (e.g., a more tech-focused approach or a greater emphasis on diversity and inclusion).

πŸ“‰**Improved technology and tools:** A new provider may offer access to better technology and tools for candidate sourcing and management.

πŸ“‰**Better alignment with School / Trust / Academy
culture:** The new provider's values and approach better align with the culture and hiring philosophy.

Make every moment matter!

In the grand scheme of the universe, our time on this planet is but a fleeting nanosecond. No matter who you are, you can't rewind the clock or start over again.
So, when an opportunity comes your way, grab it with both hands, embrace it, and give it your all. That single moment could be the spark that turns your dream into a reality.

Be authentic, be loyal, be honest to yourself, be YOU I'm a daughter, a mum, a granddaughter, a doggy mum, a friend to so many people & a recruiter of course. This picture captures last year. Always smiling, never settling.

Happy new year πŸ₯³ from Team HK 🧑

A short trip to Reading with a client to understand how agencies work and what goes on behind the scenes.

Fostering honest and transparent client relationships for long-term retention.

The success of our core education and tuition businesses hinges on our collaborative efforts to meet the needs of our young people, who are by far our most important clients.

In true Rachael Boaler style a few drinks in the evening of course 😜. Being authentic is so important 🧑

Happy holidays from everyone at Holden Knight Education!

As schools close for a well-deserved break, we wanted to say a heartfelt thank you to all our partner schools and educators for continuing to empower our future generation of stars.

As many of us enjoy spending time with our families and loved ones over the holidays, let's also remember all those who are less fortunate and may not be able to do the same. Let's check in on our neighbours and friends who may welcome a friendly face.

Finally, thank you to everyone for their trust and incredible support this year. Don't forget our team is available throughout the holidays for anyone looking to take the next step in their education career.

Happy Christmas from Team HK 🧑

As 2024 draws to a close and schools, staff and pupils get ready for a well deserved break, I wanted to personally thank you for placing your trust in Holden Knight Education throughout this year. As someone who has worked with schools and been around education for over 21 years, I know just how challenging a job it is to successfully run a school so truly appreciate the job your schools and staff do to help pupils receive a top quality education and the best start in life.

On a personal level, the end of the year also brings to a close my first year as Managing Director for Holden Knight Education. Having spoken with, personally visited and supported so many schools this year, I am incredibly inspired and proud of the work we have achieved so far. This is just the beginning.

At Holden Knight Education, we pride ourselves in being recognised as a company with social value at its heart. We appreciate that every child is different and they deserve the best chance at success in life. Added to this the current cost of living crisis affecting so many families across the UK, we want to be able to make a difference, however small that may be. As a result, throughout this year we have been running a number of initiatives to work with our partner schools with the aim of being able to give back and support families and children who need it most.

🧑 Holiday, activities and food programme (HAF)

Partnering with Blackpool Council we are giving back Β£5 a day from every temp booking to invest back into the community to support the most disadvantaged children in Blackpool. I am proud to share that we have so far donated Β£8,511 to the programme, providing vulnerable children in Blackpool access to a safe environment and nutritious meals throughout the holidays. You can learn more about the programme on our website https://lnkd.in/eectQD7G

🧑 Free school uniforms and food vouchers

At the beginning of this term we launched our campaign aimed at providing schools with free school uniforms or food vouchers to distribute to families who needed them most. It’s great to see so many schools are on track for receiving one of five donations from Holden Knight Education next year. This campaign is running until the summer 2025. Click here to register https://lnkd.in/eCtgaHAg

Looking ahead to 2025, we are in the process of launching our tuition and intervention support to schools to help pupils with valuable intervention support to help them get the most out of their education. We’ve welcomed two key figures to our business in Rosie Weatherhead and Jane Higgins, who have over 20 years of combined experience working within education. They will be reaching out to schools early in 2025 but if you would like to learn more about how they can support your pupils, please email [email protected]

I hope you enjoy a well deserved break to spend with your family and loved ones 🧑
