Fellas, I promise you, you don’t have an effort problem…

You have a structure problem.

Most blokes are training hard, showing up consistently, but spinning plates because there’s no real plan behind it.

Once you combine performance + physique goals, everything clicks.

DM “Plan” and I’ll show you how to structure it. No BS

🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿 Episode 11 Project 70:60

Next Up Hyrox Cardiff doubles.

After a few Pro Singles, I’m back with the dubs partner to see what we’ve got in the tank.

It’s not been a perfect training block by any means. But the intention isn’t to find perfect conditionions.

It’s to find how you can keep moving towards the Goal and adjusting the plan to get there as you go.

BUT, you can only do this if you know how to train with purpose and structure. It can’t just come from winging it week to week.

RANDOM PLAN = RANDOM RESULTS.I’ve had plenty going on stress wise, and a few niggles which I’ve been managing. If I was training randomly, the wheels would’ve absolutely fallen off.

Most Blokes I work with don’t have an EFFORT problem, they have a STRUCTURE problem.

If you fix that first, yo’ll be surprised at what you’re capable of.

Meet my 1:1 Hybrid and Hyrox Performance client Jig.

Just the soundest Bloke, who’s work ethic is unmatched.

So much so we have to reign it in sometimes 😅💪🏻

Checkout our interview.

Most Blokes struggle to blend multiple goal and also a lot the time think they know what they’re doing. This generally leaves a lot of their potential on the table when it comes to their Performance and Physique.

A lot of the time, not through lack of effort. But lack of knowledge.

With Jig, we implemented a training structure that left no holes in his game. And have most importantly, had Jig in fittest, strongest and fastest shape he’s been in.

I’ve never really been a bodybuilder at heart. Even when I was training like one, something always felt off.

I was big.
I was strong.

But I was slow, unfit, and felt nothing like the athlete I used to be.

After years of competing in rugby, I’d spent my whole career training with a purpose.

Every session meant something. There was always something to chase.

Bodybuilding gave me the gym. But it never gave me that back.

That buzz from competition.

That feeling of training for something real. Even if it’s just against yourself and the clock that’s what I needed.

So I made the switch to hybrid and Hyrox training.

Same gym head at heart.
Just a completely different reason to show up.
And honestly?

I feel more like an athlete now than I ever did carrying that extra size.

If you’re a former rugby lad, footballer, or just a gym rat who feels like something’s missing.
It probably is.

Follow along. I’ll show you exactly how I made the transition. 👊🏽

Which matters more to you right now, how you look or how you perform?

Hyrox fellas, you’ll want this for later…

If I had to start all over again here’s exactly what I’ve learnt from 15 Hyrox Paces and many pb’s

Pro Races. Singles. Doubles. I’ve learned a thing or two.

Here are the 4 training mistakes blokes make when training for Hyrox:

1. Training hard every day.
High/low exists for a reason. One day high intensity, one day low. If every session is a 7 out of 10 or above, none of them are actually hard, and you’re never fully recovering either.
You’re just grinding yourself into the ground slowly.

2. Stacking the wrong stresses together.
Heavy legs and a hard run on back to back days is a recipe for accumulated fatigue. Stack similar stressors on the same day instead, then let the recovery day actually be recovery. Protect your quality sessions by being smarter with the ones around them.

3. Only training submaximally.
Hyrox rewards the athlete who can sustain pace but if you never train at maximal effort, your ceiling never rises. You need both. Submaximal work builds the engine. Maximal efforts expand it.

4. Ignoring the force-velocity curve.
Most blokes either lift heavy or run fast. But Hyrox demands power across the entire spectrum — strength-speed, speed-strength, pure speed, pure strength. If you’re only training one end, you’re leaving performance on the table.
5. Your BONUS, plyometrics and jumping. I hate to use the word but this will be a in your performance.game-changer.
Train smart. Recover smarter and race Intelligently.

Education is important.

But big biceps are more importanter.

Only take advice from Blokes who’ve walked the walk.

Anything else isn’t worth your time ⏳

19/04/2026

Enjoy the wins when they come.
Take the lessons.
Then go again.

Physique goals, races and performance goals.

I always try to have something that keeps me focussed, challenges me, keeps me honest and keeps me excited with my goals.

You’ll surprise yourself with you’re capable of.

Checkout what training for Hyrox and getting jacked looks like for my client Rob.

Rob’s primary goal we’re working towards currently is Hyrox performance.

Rob came to me with an open singles of 1:11, we’ve recently ran a sim and hit 1:02 in preparation for Cardiff.

Alongside this we had a period where we focussed on improving Rob’s physique too.

Getting jacked, fast and fit is the perfect combo for any Bloke who wants to take the physique and performance to the next level.

🔥 Home Gym 1.0 (2021) → 2.0 (2025)

🚀 You’re literally one environment change away from a breakthrough Physique and Performance Goals.

How you spend your time literally shapes your results or, LACK of them.

- How you spend your time
- What you consume
- Who you spend your time with

You should be really f**king fussy with how you do this.

You’re probably sick of hearing me bang on about:

✅ Creating systems and processes
✅ Creating environments

to thrive even when the chaos of life hits.

One of the biggest gamechangers for me was getting the home gym during COVID.

This is my space.
Saves me travel time.
Away from the chaos of commercial gyms when I want to be.

It’s recently had a nice little upgrade.

I appreciate this type of setup may not be for everyone.

But the principle remains: create environments and systems that support the man you’re becoming.

Most blokes, if not careful in the modern day, are set up for burnout.

This could be levelling up your working environment, desk/office (I’d highly recommend doing this).

Whether it’s a home gym, upgrading your office, or just clearing distractions from your phone - small upgrades compound.
