Say 'thank you' to a teacher today 12/06/2026

On 17th June, it is Thank a Teacher Day, a chance to recognise the incredible dedication, passion and hard work of everyone working in our schools.
From teachers and teaching assistants to support staff and school leaders, every member of the school community plays a vital role in helping children and young people learn, grow and thrive.
Last year, more than 100,000 personalised e-cards were sent to educators across the country, showing just how much their efforts are valued.
The Department for Education is encouraging everyone to get involved again this year. Why not take a moment to send a free personalised e-card to a colleague, teacher, teaching assistant, school leader or any member of school staff who has made a difference?
It's a simple gesture that can brighten someone's day and acknowledge the important work happening in schools every day.

Manchester City of Trees Visit!

We were delighted to welcome representatives from Manchester City of Trees to our school this week to survey the 970 trees that have been planted across our site.

They were incredibly impressed with how well the trees are thriving and commented on how beautiful our school grounds are looking. It was wonderful to hear such positive feedback and to see the impact of our commitment to creating a greener, more sustainable environment for our children and wider community.

We are excited to continue our partnership with Manchester City of Trees and look forward to welcoming them back soon as we work towards the fantastic milestone of planting over 1,000 trees on our site!

A special thank you goes to Mr Nolan, who, alongside our children, does a fantastic job enhancing our grounds. Their hard work, dedication, and care are helping to create a wonderful outdoor environment that we can all be proud of.

Today, Mr Tanti led a special Celebration of the Word to mark the Feast of Corpus Christi.

During the celebration, the children took part in a reflective meditation, thinking about how bread sustains us physically and how Jesus taught us that He is the Bread of Life, nourishing us spiritually and guiding us in our daily lives.

Our GIFT Team reverently proclaimed the Gospel and helped lead the celebration, supporting the children in reflecting on this important feast day and its message of faith, love, and gratitude.

Thank you to one of our Year 2 children for bringing in a candle from their holiday, as it formed a central part of our prayer focus area.

It was a meaningful opportunity for our school community to come together in prayer and reflection as we celebrated the presence of Jesus in our lives.

Transition Talk 2026!

As part of our Year 6 transition programme, we were delighted to welcome a teacher and pupils from St Thomas More Catholic High School to speak with our children about life at high school.

Our Year 6 pupils enjoyed hearing first-hand experiences about lessons, clubs, routines, and the many opportunities available to them as they move on to the next stage of their education. They asked thoughtful questions and gained valuable insight into what they can expect in September.

Thank you to the staff and pupils from St Thomas More for taking the time to visit us and help make the transition to high school feel exciting and positive for our children.

What a wonderful visit to Greatwood House Care Home!

Our school choir sang beautifully, bringing so much joy to the residents, who clapped along, sang, and even danced with the children. It was a truly uplifting experience for everyone involved.

The children were absolutely amazing and showed such kindness and thoughtfulness. As well as performing, they made lovely handmade cards for the residents, which were greatly appreciated.

We are incredibly proud of how our pupils represented the school with their enthusiasm, compassion, and confidence. Thank you to everyone at Greatwood House for such a warm welcome – we look forward to visiting again soon in the near future!

A severe allergic reaction can develop quickly, so knowing what to do in an emergency is essential.

This week’s guide gives parents, carers and educators a clear overview of adrenaline devices, including EpiPen, Jext and nasal adrenaline.

The guide covers:
• Symptoms affecting the airway, breathing and circulation
• How different adrenaline devices are used
• Why the patient should lie down and remain still
• The importance of calling 999
• Why two devices should always be carried

It also reinforces a vital message: using adrenaline promptly is always better than waiting.
