Wow! I feel so grateful for such a lovely review. Tutoring has been one of my saviours during lockdown too! I absolutely love tutoring, especially when I can see such progress being made lesson after lesson. This is why we teach! I would like to share some 'Before' and 'After' pictures of pieces of writing I have been working on with one of my students. The difference in this writing was produced after only two sessions.

I am so proud of my student as he has worked incredibly hard on this piece of writing! And I think you'll agree he has done a fantastic job.

It’s been a while since I did a post! But this problem really stuck out and has been in my head all day as one of my real wow moments. I was working with a “greater depth” child but this problem really stumped him. We worked it out together and suddenly, I got that “ohhhhh!” Moment that us teachers love so much! Was so nice to show a really gifted child another, simple way of working out a complex problem. Check out my highlights for how we did it! Xx

If you saw my stories yesterday then you’d know how much a tip my house was in! Well, husband and I have achieved lots of jobs today and have finally got the place looking almost Christmas ready! Feeling very proud we managed to turn this around whilst managing a very excited 3 year old and quite a poorly 4 month old! (Did I mention I was at a&e with him until 2am last night 😢😢 - he’s doing okay now, just a bad case of bronchiolitis 😫) Anyway, just thought I’d show that I’m actually not a slob and this little place can look lovely! Cursive handwriting is such a skill! I like to follow the Martin Harvey scheme for handwriting (this can be downloaded from google). This child never joined his writing and this picture shows his practice over 2 sessions! .

I was approached by a good friend a few weeks ago to ask if I would consider teaching piano to her two little girls as she knew I played myself (not brilliantly might I add!) I was so so apprehensive as I was definitely not an expert but I accepted the challenge anyway 💁🏼‍♀️

Well, I am so glad I did! I’m still no expert but I realised that my knowledge of playing was a lot greater than I did myself credit. But that’s not the reason I am enjoying it so much. To teach a brand new skill to such eager and excited children, to see their faces when they’re struggling, only to see their sheer joy when they are succeeding 😍😍 it’s like beginning teaching all over again ☺️

So I may not be an expert pianist but as a teacher, how many of us are experts really? Children don’t learn from experts, they learn from teachers ❤️
