St Luke's RC Primary School Salford

Four of our Year 5 girls: Blythe, Paisley, Freya and Daniella were lucky enough to take part in the "Girls Inspire Day" at Graystone. They did skateboarding, scootering, trampolining, the climbing wall and gymnastics. They thoroughly enjoyed it and to top it off they had an inspirational talk from a professional skateboarder! They were a credit to St Luke’s.

Last Friday was the Bill Hayhurst cup Final. We went down to Broughton Playing Fields to play against Ellenbrook. It was a nervy first 10 minutes where we had a few chances. We hit the post and one went wide. Ellenbrook scored first with a good counterattack and not long after they scored again. The wind was against us, but we kept our heads up and played our game. We pulled a goal back just before half time to make it 2-1. We played right till the end goals scored by Blake and Finn x2.

The game finished 4-3 and was a very exciting finish. Unfortunately, we just fell short of the win, but we are extremely proud of our children who have done so well to get to the final. They were handed the Charter Cup for coming second which we haven't won since 1996. Well done again!

Yesterday, a group of Y5 children represented the school in a football competition. They had a fantastic opportunity to play on the pitch at the Peninsula Stadium. We got placed in a very tough group and shown lots of resilience and determination. Goal scorers were Junior and George. We had an excellent morning showing lots of our Lukies' Values.

Yesterday, we played the semi-final of the Bill Hayhurst cup. Our fantastic year 6 team booked us a spot in the final as we won 7-1 with our goal scorers being Rory D with 3 goals, Finn with 2, Blake with 1 and Jensen with 1.
Special mention to the defence keeping the oppositions attack preventing them from scoring with Alan’s fantastic keeping.
We will now play in the final at the cliff training ground next Friday.
