WEDNESDAY SHOWCASE | DISCOVERING YOUR CHILD’S INTEREST

Today, we are celebrating one of our darling treasures who is currently showing a strong interest in football ⚽️.

What makes this even more beautiful is the intentionality of his parents. Rather than simply saying, “He likes football,” they have taken the next step by enrolling him in an academy to help develop, strengthen and refine his skills.

But this brings us to a question many parents ask:

“How do I know what my child really wants when they seem interested in so many things?” 🤔

Children are naturally curious. They may want to dance today, play football tomorrow, draw the next day and suddenly announce that they want to become a scientist!

And that is okay.

You don’t always have to choose one interest for them immediately.

Give them opportunities to explore, observe and experience.

Watch what they naturally return to.

Notice what keeps their attention.

Observe what they practise without being asked.

Listen to the questions they repeatedly ask.

Pay attention to what makes them light up.

And most importantly, don’t rush to define your child before they have had the opportunity to discover themselves.

Sometimes, the interest that looks like “just play” today may become a skill, passion or even a future career tomorrow.

At BethelhillSchool community, we believe every child is a treasure unfolding graciously.

Our role is not to put children in boxes but to create environments where they can explore, discover, develop and thrive even at home .

📌 Watch out for our next post, where we will answer:

“How can parents identify what their child truly wants when they are interested in many different things?”

If you need support understanding /Nurturing your child’s interests, strengths and learning needs, we would love to help.

DO YOU JOURNAL? ✍️📖

In a world that moves so quickly, journaling gives us an opportunity to pause, reflect, and notice how far we have come.

Every little moment matters.Every milestone matters.Every lesson matters.Every progress is progress.

Sometimes, we are so focused on where we are going that we forget to celebrate where we have been.

Journaling helps us capture the journey—the small wins, the lessons learned, the challenges overcome, and the moments that shape us.

So, take a moment today.

Write it down.Reflect on it.Celebrate it.

Because growth is not always loud, and progress is not always dramatic.

Sometimes growth happens quietly, one day and one step at a time. And to see that the child who was struggling to hold a pencil can now write her name .

Slowly and surely, we are unfolding graciously!

Do you journal your child’s learning progress?

No summer trip? No worries

Some of the best childhood memories aren’t made on expensive holidays—they’re made in the little moments at home.

This weekend, slow down and be intentional.

Put the phones away, laugh together, and simply enjoy each other’s company.

Here are a few simple ways to bond as a family:
🎨 Paint or colour together.
📚 Read a story aloud.
🧩 Build puzzles or play board games.
🙈 Play hide-and-seek.
🏃 Have an indoor or garden scavenger hunt.
🍪 Bake or cook a simple meal together.
🎭 Dress up and act out a favourite story.
🌱 Plant flowers or herbs.
🎵 Dance to your favourite songs.
🎤 Have a family karaoke session.
🎬 Create a mini family movie night.
💌 Write kind notes to one another.
⚽ Play football or simple outdoor games.
🚶 Take a nature walk around your neighbourhood.
🙏 End the day with gratitude and family prayer.
Children won’t always remember where they travelled, but they will remember how loved, seen, and connected they felt.
This weekend, give your children your greatest gift—your presence.

What family activity will you be trying this weekend?

PLAY. EXPLORE. LEARN. 🏖️

Playing with sand is much more than fun—it’s a powerful learning experience for children.

Through sand play, children develop:

✨ Fine motor skills by scooping, pouring, digging, and building.

✨ Creativity and imagination as they create their own worlds.

✨ Problem-solving skills through experimenting and constructing.

✨ Language and social skills by playing, sharing, and communicating with others.

✨ Sensory awareness that supports brain development and emotional regulation.

At Bethelhill School community, we believe that some of the best learning happens through purposeful play.

Every handful of sand is an opportunity to discover, create, and grow.

Children don’t just play—they learn through play.

We are incredibly grateful to every family that has signed up for our on going Summer Play Dates. Thank you for trusting us to be part of your child’s learning journey.

What is your child’s favourite outdoor activity this summer?

🏊‍♀️ Why Swimming Matters for some children who has shown interest.

Summer is a great time for children to learn a skill that could benefit them for life—and swimming is one of the most valuable.

Swimming is more than a recreational activity.

It is an essential life skill that promotes safety, builds confidence, improves physical fitness, strengthens coordination, and supports emotional wellbeing.

It also teaches resilience, discipline, and the courage to try something new.

Every child learns differently. Whether your child is stepping into the water for the first time or building on existing skills, the right support and encouragement can make all the difference.

At Bethelhill School community, we believe every child deserves opportunities to learn, grow, and thrive.

We can work with you to design a personalised plan that supports your child’s journey towards becoming a confident swimmer.

Let’s make this summer intentional—one skill at a time.

Connect with us to explore how we can collaborate and help make your child’s swimming dream a reality.

📚 One Story Today. A Lifetime of Benefits Tomorrow.

What if one of the most powerful tools for raising a confident, articulate, and curious child was already sitting on your bookshelf?

Reading to your child is more than a bedtime routine—it’s an investment in their future.

Every story introduces new words, expands vocabulary, strengthens listening skills, and improves comprehension.

Children who are read to regularly often communicate more confidently, develop stronger imaginations, and find it easier to express their thoughts and emotions.

Beyond academics, reading creates something even more valuable: connection.

It is a moment for laughter, questions, cuddles, and meaningful conversations that strengthen the parent-child bond.

Let’s make reading a family culture, not just a school activity this summer

📖 Read together. 💬 Talk about the story. ❓Ask questions. 🌟 Celebrate curiosity.

Just 15–20 minutes of reading each day can make a remarkable difference in your child’s language development and love for learning.

At Bethelhill School community, we believe that every page turned is another step towards raising confident readers, effective communicators, and lifelong learners.

Today’s challenge: Pick up a book, read with your child, and create a memory that will last far beyond the final page.

Because readers today become leaders tomorrow.

“Play is the highest form of research.” — Albert Einstein

This is the power of having a designated play area for your child.

A thoughtfully planned play space is more than a corner with toys. It’s a place where children build confidence, solve problems, develop language, strengthen fine and gross motor skills, regulate emotions, and learn through meaningful play.
Because play is a child’s work.

As we head into the weekend, imagine giving your child a space that encourages creativity, independence, and joyful learning—right under your own roof.

The best part? It doesn’t have to be a large room or an expensive setup. It simply needs to be designed around your child’s developmental needs.

At Bethelhill School community, we can help you:

✨ Assess your child’s play and learning needs.

✨ Create a functional play area at home.

✨ Recommend age-appropriate toys and learning materials.

✨ Guide you on how to use play intentionally to support your child’s growth.

This weekend, don’t just give your child more screen time. Give them a space where they can play, explore, imagine, and thrive.

📩 Send us a message today. Let’s help you create a play environment that works for your child and your family.
