Public service leadership rarely comes with a clear roadmap.

Policy shifts, political scrutiny, stretched services and complex partnerships are now the norm for heads of service and assistant directors.

This Spring, The Staff College is launching Leading in Uncertainty – a three-day programme offering practical tools, time to think and a trusted peer group for leaders working in complex systems.

Across an online session, a two-day residential and a final in-person day, participants will work with our bespoke VUCA toolkit, explore political intelligence, conflict and change, and develop a personal leadership challenge to take back into their organisation.

If you would like to hear when dates and bookings open for the first cohort (April–June 2026), you can register your interest here: https://thestaffcollege.uk/programmes/practical-tools-for-uncertain-times/cohort-1/
