Continuing our celebration of international volunteers, today we shine a light on our mentoring programme for law students studying via our HKU SPACE partnership in Hong Kong. The mentoring scheme connects law students with alumni, who volunteer their time to give insights and advice about the legal profession and enrich their studies and professional development.

Over 300 students have benefited from the knowledge and experience shared by our Alumni Chapter Hong Kong mentors this year.

We continue our celebrations this week by highlighting the incredible volunteers who support us around the world. We have nearly 500 international alumni volunteers in 75 countries, and we wanted to showcase just some of these this week:

Our final graduate story in celebration of our recent graduate volunteers today is Megan Jones, Class of 2025 Human Resource Management.

Our students benefit hugely from hearing about graduates who have just started in their career journey, as these are their next steps, too. This is one of the easiest and most impactful ways to volunteer.

Today, our 2026 series highlights the time given by our most recent graduates to support students. Through our new Graduate Stories, these volunteers share their insights into those first steps after graduating, showing the in our volunteering community.

In April, we hosted alumni volunteers and students at our Volunteers’ Celebration Event, which gets bigger and better every year!

The event was a fantastic evening of celebrating our volunteer community and reflecting on the huge impact that they have had on our students. At the event, we heard from both alumni and students about how volunteering had impacted their lives, and helped them to gain confidence, skills and community.

Welcome to Volunteers’ Week 2026! This week, we are highlighting and celebrating our amazing alumni volunteer community.

Looking a little different compared to now, today’s features the Chatham Building around 1980.

Chatham was opened in 1966 and is now part of the Manchester School of Art.

Manchester Met alumna, Julia Rogers, has landed her debut film role in the upcoming British rom-com, Finding Emily, produced by the team behind Bridget Jones’s Diary and Love Actually.

Julia credits her time at the Manchester School of Theatre for helping her develop the skills and confidence to succeed on screen.
