Headteacher's Recognition Reward 🎉 - It wasn't only our boys who received a treat today. Standing in for Ms Cronin, Mr Watt had the pleasure of seeing our superstars from last week joining together to give them their praise and rewards.

As well as the usual highest achievement point earners, today also saw two Year 10 students receiving recognition for in Geography. They were nominated by their subject teacher, Mrs Currie, for pushing themselves to produce extremely high-quality work and demostrating the desire to push themselves even further 👏 Today's Year 9 Geographers expressed that they were looking forward to the upcoming Geography trip to Magna 💥 in November too.

A huge well done to all of our boys today. Keep up the enthusiasm! 💙💛

🏆 100% Form Attendance 💯
You'd be forgiven for thinking that these photos were taken during a standard lunchtime, but they were taken during form time today.
Mr Garraway's form, 10T, smashed their attendance last week with every student attending school each day 👏 so, as a reward, they gained some free-time on our outdoor sports equipment. (Did we mention that we now have outdoor table-tennis tables 🏓 and even more basketball nets 🏀, by the way?).
Available to all form groups, we've another form claiming their reward earned last week, this Wednesday.
Will your form group be enjoying a more relaxed start to the day next week? The challenge is on! 💙💛

The Languages Department went whole school this week in celebration of European Languages Day which takes place tomorrow, 26th September.

As part of Languages Week, our boys have experienced many different activities, including:

🇪🇸 The 'Passport Stations' competition has been running,
🇩🇪 Language-based form time tasks were on the go all week,
🇫🇷 A European-food themed day took place in the canteen on Wednesday,
🇵🇹 Monday lunchtime game-zone was on offer
🇵🇱 And the pièce de résistance was left until today when, not only did Ms Kenworthy, Miss Marshall and Mr Leckey dress to impress, but boys in Years 7 and 8 entered their showshopper creations into the Great European Bake Off! 🍰👏

It's fair to say that it's been a week filled with linguistic activities, fun facts, cutural enlightenment and eclectic foods, all aimed at inspiring our boys to further develop their love for languages 💙💛

💙💛 Last night saw our annual Open Evening. An evening of pride where we open up our school to prospective West Hill boys and their families. It's always a lovely sight to see the whole school buzzing with interested and excited Year 6s, and inquisitive yet often nervous parents.
💙💛 Thank you to everyone who attended. We loved seeing new faces and old... as many ex-students brought their sons (and daughters) back to show them where their West Hill School journey took place.
💙💛 Our students on the evening did an amazing job of representing our school, so a great big thank you to them too for giving up their time and proudly displaying our 3Rs perfectly.
💙💛 We hope that you had an informative visit and that you enjoyed your time with us. We enjoyed our evening with you and we look forward to seeing many of last night's Year 6s again... possibly wearing a West Hill School uniform.

Working in classrooms alongside our amazing teachers, as well as providing one-to-one specialist support, our LSAs help to remove barriers to learning for many of our boys.

This week it was the turn of The Manchester College, Clarendon Sixth and Tameside College to speak with our Year 11 students about their next steps and college applications.

From A Levels, T Levels, V Levels, vocational courses, apprenticeships and mixed learning programmes, students learnt about pathways that could support their ambitious decisions and future careers.

Students and parents are strongly encouraged to see the colleges for themselves by attending an open event:

Headteacher's Recognition Reward 🎉 - This week, boys who showed tenacity, produced notably excellent home learning, and earned the highest number of achievement points in their year group were invited to Ms Cronin's office for praise and their rewards.
Students were giving praise today also... to subjects and their teachers! Those getting a mention included, in no particular order 🥁... Mr Butler (Art 🎨), Mr Diamond (Technology 💡), Mr Roach and Mr White (English 📖), Mr Garraway and Mr Warburton (Maths 📐), Mr Cross (Music 🎺) Ms Worthington (Computer Science 💻), Mr Gray (History 🏰) and Dr Curley (Science 🧪) 👏.
Boys have started the year very well and are enjoying their "fun" lessons with "really good" teachers. Congratulations boys. A huge high five to you all! 🙌.
