Fed My Voice Director Raphi Bloom delivered his interactive My Voice Guardian presentation, sharing the life story of Ike Alterman BEM, to more than 100 people at Whitefield Golf Club today.

The presentation followed the club’s annual Holocaust Remembrance Cup, held in memory of the nine Holocaust Survivors who were members of Whitefield Golf Club and who played a vital role in its creation and long-term growth over several decades. The most recent of these was Ike Alterman, who passed away in late 2025.

The messages Ike conveys - of tolerance, kindness and that hate is a disease - are more important than ever to share we the UK Jewish community comes under sustained attack. Ike's awesome resilience is also something we, as UK Jews, need to learn from in the face of mounting pressure.

🔊 Watch & Listen to Sam Laskier z'l
Yom HaShoah - This is how memory speaks

As we approach Yom HaShoah, we are honoured to share this short and deeply moving audio testimony from the late My Voice Holocaust Survivor Storyteller, Sam Laskier z”l.

In his own words, Sam speaks about surviving the Warsaw Ghetto and Auschwitz‑Birkenau, enduring the unimaginable brutality of the N***s, and finding the strength to rebuild his life.

He tells of coming to the UK as a young survivor, spending time being rehabilitated in Windermere, and going on to marry, raise a family, and contribute so much to the country that gave him refuge.

This is not just history.
It is lived truth.
A voice that must be heard.
A testimony that must never be forgotten.

As the Survivor generation fades from view, listening to their voices becomes an act of remembrance – and an act of responsibility.

We remember Sam. We honour his legacy. And we bear witness.

𝗛𝗮𝗻𝘀 𝗥𝗼𝘀𝗲 | 𝟭𝟵𝟮𝟴–𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲

My Voice is saddened to hear of the passing of Holocaust survivor and My Voice storyteller 𝗛𝗮𝗻𝘀 𝗥𝗼𝘀𝗲.

Born in Germany in 1928, Hans came to Britain as a young refugee escaping rising antisemitism. After surviving the trauma of Kristallnacht and his father’s arrest, he rebuilt his life in the UK, eventually settling in Manchester.

He went on to build a long career in the textile industry, study at The University of Manchester, and create a loving home with his wife Adele and their three daughters.

Hans’s life was a testament to resilience, hope, and the strength of community. 𝗠𝗮𝘆 𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗺𝗲𝗺𝗼𝗿𝘆 𝗯𝗲 𝗮 𝗯𝗹𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗴.
