Voting takes place between 24th-27th February!! 🏆

Every year, University of Manchester students vote for the 8 Executive Officers they want to represent them.

This team become the 8 most influential students on campus for the year ahead, shaping what your experience of university looks like and campaigning on the issues most important to you.

Voting opens in 2 days! Have a look through the manifestos of our endorsements, and the other applicants, to find our more about those up for the role 💖

The Volunteer of the Year Awards are now accepting nominations!! 🏆 Please consider nominating us to give us a chance to win a cash prize that will go towards our fight against period poverty across Greater Manchester ❤️
 
If you’ve attended our sessions or events, and love what we do, we’d be honoured if you would consider nominating Once a Month for this year’s awards!

It’s a simple process (and although it requires a bit of writing, it doesn’t have to be anything fancy), and all you need to do is give details on how you think the work we do at Once a Month has benefitted students and the wider community! 🥰

There are 3 categories:

* Student of the Year (individual) undertaking volunteering that benefits the wider community
* Student of the Year (individual) undertaking volunteering that benefits other students
* Student Group of the Year (2 or more students together) undertaking volunteering that benefits the wider community

Some of our achievements this academic year include:

✨ held multiple period product packing sessions; making ~200 packs per session!

✨ started our newsletter, Periodico

✨ held our very first external event, speakers from multiple charities, female and LGBTQ+ DJs, and student artwork, raising over £300

✨ collaborated with for a special session ‘takeover’

✨ held stalls at multiple university fairs, including recently at the ‘Get Into Volunteering’ fair

✨ held a special intro session during Volunteering Week

✨ secured over £1k over donations from a corporate donor

✨ began communications with new charitable organisations, including the Manchester Central Food Bank and MASH

This site has been out of action for 2+ years now, but we thought it was time to bring it back, with a few additions! Check out the ‘Useful Links’ page if you want to find out more about our charities, or if you are or somebody you know right now is looking for some support. 🫶

We have compiled a collection mental health, domestic violence support, and period poverty support services that are ready to help you, so check it out ❤️

We have also embedded our NEWSLETTER ‘Periodico’s first edition!! For those who aren’t on our mailing list 😅

In December, SUBLiME and Once a Month teamed up to put on a night of engaging talks, art exhibits, and hard grooves from a stellar lineup of female and LGBTQ+ selectas ✨🔊

It was an incredible night and together we managed to raise £313 to help the fight against period poverty across Greater Manchester ❤️🥰

At our Once a Month x event, we’re kicking off the evening with powerful talks from an incredible lineup of speakers🎙️

Our speakers work at a range of amazing organisations, so we thought we’d give you a sneak peak of what you may hear about this Friday!

Together, they’re making real change in Greater Manchester and beyond:

❤️ Manchester Action on Street Health:

Non-judgemental support for women in Greater Manchester who are s*x working. MASH provides a vast array of support services including a drop-in centre, clinic and outreach programmes (including the iconic MASH van).

❤️ Manchester Women’s Aid

The national charity working to end domestic abuse against women and children. They provide life-saving services across England while building a future where domestic abuse is not tolerated.

❤️ Ellen MacArthur Cancer Trust

The trust inspires young people aged 8-24 to believe in a brighter future, living through and beyond cancer, through free sailing and outdoor adventures.

❤️ The Crimson Wave

A non-profit on a mission to distribute FREE period products and deliver inclusive, honest and empowering education across Greater Manchester.

❤️ Irise

Irise International is an award-winning, global leader in menstrual health programming, research, advocacy and policy development, transforming peoples’ lives through period equality.

❤️ The Period Vampires

The vampires of The Womb Tomb will drain you of your moon blood and supply your festival with free period products!
