What a lovely time we have had celebrating the Winter Olympics!
๐The children have loved learning all about the sports we have in the Winter Olympics and have tried some out themselves. Dazzling Daffodils used their obstacle course to see what it was like going down a snowy slope like they do when skiing or snowboarding, and made their own ice skates. โธ
The children loved making lots of artwork and playing in themed messy plays, like Baby Blossom's bob sled messy play.
We are so proud of all of the athletes that competed in the Winter Olympics, particularly to those who got us a gold medal! ๐ฅ

๐The children had a wonderful time celebrating Chinese New Year!
They learnt how to use chopsticks to pick up rice and noodles, while learning all about what different foods they might eat in China. They then had Chinese themed food for dinner.
The children made lots of artwork such as Chinese lanterns, and Dazzling Daffodils even tried some Chinese writing. They also listened to Chinese music while dancing and throwing pretend cherry blossoms.

It has been an important week this week as we celebrated Children's Mental Health Week!
The children have taken part in lots of activities, ranging from sensory play, to emotions, to talking about ourselves and who we are.
We have made sensory bottles and played in sensory baths. We have talked about the different emotions and what makes us feel those emotions. We have also explored our sense of self and talked about how we think of ourselves, the children all saying they are pretty, kind or a 'super boy!'

๐This week has been National Storytelling Week!๐
The children have loved celebrating in lots of different ways.
We have been reading some of our favourite stories with our friends and have been exploring lots of story themed messy plays. The older children have also been making their own books, and made a story island map that they then used to find treasure. Some of the children enjoyed painting characters from some familiar books, like The Gruffalo!

This afternoon, after a conversation during morning snack about where milk comes from, the children in Dazzling Daffodils made some butter!
They learnt all about where it comes from and how it's made as we whipped up some double cream to make our own.
They then spread their homemade butter onto their bread to have with soup.

The children have loved taking part in the RSPB Big Bird Watch!
They have been spotting birds using the bird finders, making bird feeders to hang in the garden, and have been playing in related messy plays.
The older children have loved talking about all the different birds we see in the UK and have been learning all about bird life cycles and how they hatch from eggs.
