Reminder to children and parents:
To kick off Anti-Bullying Week we will be taking part in ‘Odd Socks Day’, which is an event organised by the Anti-Bullying Alliance, on Monday 15th November.
The children can come to school wearing odd socks (this is optional) – giving them an opportunity to express themselves and celebrate their uniqueness.
Each class will then creatively capture how their class participated in Odd Socks Day, and this will then be shared with the school community via the website or social media platforms.
Attached are some examples from Odd Socks Day 2020.

Black History Month Competition for the holidays.
Calling all Oasis Academy Temple Pupils… Fancy a challenge?
Why not create a poster/presentation/video on your iPad about a famous person in Black History e.g. Martin Luther King Jr, Rosa Parks, Harriet Tubman, Muhammed Ali, Barack Obama, Kamala Harris, Jesse Owens or Megan Markle.
Also, there are some incredible historical stories from the British Civil Rights movement, as well as some that are still ongoing! For example, Marcus Rashford's fight to end racism in football.
To help you, the BHM website has a fantastic fact-file of some British champions of the Civil Rights movement:
https://www.blackhistorymonth.org.uk/section/civil-rights-movement/
Or, if you prefer and want to celebrate a different BAME (Black Asian Minority Ethnic) background, that would be fine! For example, the British Pakistani Foundation has a fact-file on some amazing people from this community:
https://www.britishpakistanfoundation.com/programmes/outstanding-british-pakistanis/
Entries to be saved on ClassDojo in the portfolio.
Each class teacher will to choose the best entry - these will be shared and celebrated on the website/social media and in assemblies.
Have a lovely break! I can't wait to see what you've learned when we return!
We are pleased to announce our lunchtime and after school clubs offer.
If your child has been given a place in one of the clubs, you would have received a letter with the club information, including payment information.
Clubs will start the first week back after half-term (week beginning 1st November 2021), unless started otherwise.

Last week, one of our pupils from 5 Portsmouth made Miss Hayes smile. “Miss I’ve been thinking about our new library, and thought it would be good to have a Shakespeare section as there are so many books. I made a poster last night for it, do you want to see it?”

Subhan's Poem - Hope
The night can always turn into great days,
winter might be gloomy but there’s hope for summers rays,
The leaves have to fall like there is a rush,
but again there will be hope for greenery and lush,
The thirsty Saharah is waiting for days, look!
the clouds are going to open their spillways,
Bees have to fly for more than an hour,
to get honey by blooming flowers,
Always keep alive the hope inside you, and do let the flame blow and let hope grow.
Well done Subhan - we are so proud of you!
Also, well done to all the children who also took part in the competition - you've all done a great job too!
Congratulations Nick!
