Dinosaur news! Spinosaurus was the largest predator ever to walk on land. It lived 95 million years ago and was around 15m long (T rex was 12m). It has been suspected for some time that Spinosaurus was also a swimmer, and a new fossil discovery in Morocco confirms this. The tail bones had tall spines, meaning the tail was blade-like, resembling that of a newt, a clear adaptation for swimming. For more, read this fantastic National Geographic article:
Bizarre Spinosaurus makes history as first known swimming dinosaur A newfound fossil tail from this giant predator stretches our understanding of how—and where—dinosaurs lived.

I'm now working on a a new activity for the Greek Legacies workshop - building a theatre. Like the temple, the whole class will work together to make one realistic model. Here is a very early version.
It will eventually have not only all the seats and lots of spectators, but also the stage and actors, and the hillside behind.

SPACE: I just visited the excellent Sun exhibition at the Science and Industry Museum in Manchester. Lots of great artefacts, info and images to keep you interested. Here's a selection of photos.
In my Earth, Sun and Moon workshop children learn why we have days, years and seasons because of the Sun. They make their own globes to make sure the learning sticks.
