Year 6 Bootcamp READY!

Today we held a very special assembly to celebrate Mrs Moody who, this year, has been part of the Oldfield Brow School family for 25 years. She is a very special person and someone who has been and continues to be at the heart of our school. Thank you Mrs Moody for 25 years of dedication, leadership and service.

From September 2026, there will be important changes to how Free School Meals (FSM) eligibility is assessed.

Transitional protections currently in place will end in July 2026. This means that all families will need to meet the eligibility criteria to continue receiving Free School Meals.

There will be two categories of FSM:

Targeted FSM – for families receiving Universal Credit with annual earnings of £7,400 or less. Pupils eligible under this category will also attract Pupil Premium funding for the school.

Expanded FSM – for families receiving Universal Credit who do not meet the earnings threshold above.

Children in Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 will continue to receive Universal Infant Free School Meals regardless of income. However, it is still important that eligible families apply, as this helps the school receive additional funding.

As we head into the final week of term, we are really excited to start the week with the annual Year 6 Enterprise Fair. All children will have chance to visit Year 6s stalls to win prizes and purchase items from our exceptional Year 6 learners. The fair will take place on Monday 20th July and every class in school will have chance to attend. Don't forget to bring some money into school to enjoy the fair!

Update: due to the high temperatures forecast for the remainder of this week, all children will be allowed to come into school in their Oldfield Brow PE kit or summer dress. We will keep you updated.

What a truly wonderful day Reception have had at 'Imagine That'. From start to finish they have had a great time, whilst learning lots of incredible things too! We watched boiling water being poured over -109 degree solid dry ice and the effect it had. We witnessed the dry ice sublimate and turn straight into a gas once the boiling water was poured over it.

🎉 SPORTS DAY 2026 – WHAT A FANTASTIC DAY! 🎉

We are still buzzing from our Sports Day yesterday – what an incredible turnout we had! 🏃‍♂️🏃‍♀️💨

The energy was amazing, every single child gave it their all, and there was so much laughter, team spirit and fun. It truly was a day to remember! ✨
