So honoured to have been nominated for this Award and proud to be selected as a finalist. For me as a Volunteer it’s about creating opportunities for children, young people and adults to be able to be the best they can be. It’s not about what they can’t do, it’s about what they can do. As well as working throughout the West of Scotland developing disability swimming with partners such as SDS, DSG, ASA and EASC to name a few, I work with fantastic people in my actual main job within the Swimtime Group who develop their programmes to be inclusive for all. Joan is this year's winner of the Service to Sport Award. Over the past 38 years, Joan has inspired, motivated, and developed hundreds of swimmers with disabilities and supported countless volunteers and coaches by utilising her extensive knowledge of swimming.

🏊 Joan established the Jets Swim Team in Kilmarnock in 1987 as a referral rehabilitation programme, which has helped many individuals across the West of Scotland since.
