This LGBTQIA+ history month, we are reminded that identity is not fixed. Listen out for those conversations in the classrooms, the corridors and even on the playground. Students will benefit from it. 🏳️🌈

The fear of failure can shut young learners down just as much as adults and the role of anxiety in learning is so important. In our latest article with , we need to understand that anxiety keeps us safe. It doesn’t help us create, envision or even problem solve effectively.
Ana Maria explains developing in a subject and overcoming hurdles means that students need to feel safe enough to make mistakes, admit when they are confused, and speak up when their processing is at capacity. She explains Reclaim Ed's approach and expertise in taking a trauma-informed approach through using empathy and curiosity to help their students learning.

Excited to announce that kindly published an article for Reclaim Ed.
In this article, Ana Maria opens up the conversation of why you might need to hire a tutor for your teenager. Reclaim Ed encourages the shift of perspective in the hope of changing the narrative of "my child is failing" to "how can we support our children in a way that works for them".

Dear middle leader,
Leaders spend a lot of time talking to external stakeholders. However, for teachers who spend most of their days in the classroom, parent/carer meetings can feel daunting.
🐻Prepare your team when they do phone calls home - what messaging do you want parents/carers to receive about your department?
🐻Offer to accompany your team to any parent/carer meetings where possible and necessary.
🐻Make sure that your language is always supportive of your team regardless of any information that a parent/carer discusses with you.
It is important to remember that parents/carers will share their opinion of the school with their child. If the parent/carer loses faith in your team, that student will stop buying into your team.
Have an exciting week ahead,
The team at Reclaim Ed

Dear middle leader,
Each member of your team will thrive at specific tasks, a great leader pays attention to these and takes interest in them.
⭐️ Encourage conversation about how your team prefer to work.
⭐️ Use a rota to carry out different departmental tasks and evaluate the outcomes.
⭐️ Listen carefully when people share their lived experiences; it might be that they have the transferable skills that will take the team to the next level.
Remember that soft skills are just as important as the more traditional productivity skills. A member of your team who can develop positive relationships with students, parents and other members of the school staff are invaluable.
Have a lovely day,
The team at Reclaim Ed
