On Tuesday, Year 1 arrived at school to find a big mess in their classroom! We later received a letter from Max (the main character in the story Where the Wild Things Are) telling us he had had a rumpus in our classroom!
Year 1 went to Smithills farm last week. The children had an amazing day! We got to feed llamas, sheep, goats and donkeys. We rode on a tractor and had a donkey ride. We visited pets corner and met lots of baby animals. We even got to see a calf being born, her name was Sharon.
In science, year 3 planned an investigation to find out how different materials affect a car going down a ramp. We recorded how far the car travelled. Our results showed that bubble wrap created the most friction.
Inspired by paralympian Anthony Cotteril's visit, Year 3 tested their fitness in P.E. How many star jumps in 30 seconds? How many jumps over a hurdle in 30 seconds? How far can they jump from a standing start?
Year 1 have been learning about Shabbat this half term, so we ended today by having some grape juice and challah bread.
Year 3 have been learning about forces in science. To help them understand about balanced and unbalanced forces, we went outside to try out a tug of war!
In Design and Technology, Year 3 made pouches using their sewing skills. Some children designed them to fit their glasses in. Here are a selection of them.

This term year 3 have studied fairy tales in Art. They looked at the illustrations of Quentin Blake and Anthony Browne. The children made a tile out a clay and then used extra clay to create 'raised relief' parts to their 'scene from a fairy story'. Finally they painted certain parts of their scene to make them stand out. Here's a selection of them...
Year 3 have been learning about balancing on points (small parts of the body) and patches (large parts of the body) in gymnastics. They created some wonderful balances!
There's been some strange goings on in Year 1 this week! The children have been reading Traction Man and learning how to make their own comics. Thankfully some characters in their classrooms have provided some inspiration!
This week is Children's Mental Health week. Each day the children are taking part in activity designed to help with their mental health. Today the children listened to different songs and made their own happy playlist! These are some of their favourites!

We all really enjoyed our Christmas dinner day yesterday. The children made their own hats. Year 6 even wore the hats they had designed and made in DT (and the parents took part in their DT lesson in the morning).
Year 2 performed the Christmas Nativity this week. It was a huge success, especially the amazing singing. Good job Year 2!
Year 3 had fun in a music lesson by having a go at playing twinkle twinkle little star and jingle bells on the glockenspiels.
Year 1 have been busy making fruit salad and also crudities and dips. They learned how to use knives safely to cut fruit and vegetables.
