Does anyone know when the which day is the rarest of days in the year? ππ»ββοΈ It's 29th of February, a day that only comes once every four years βΌοΈ This day has also been coined the Rare Disease Day to raise awareness about the > 7, 000 existing rare diseases in the world (according to the National Institute of Health, NIH). π¦
In commemoration of this day, BAMEdical is collaborating with M4RD to organise an event on this very topic! πThe speakers invited to deliver this event are Dr. Laura Furness π©Ί, who will be sharing her experience working with patients living with rare diseases, and Mr. Jibreel Arshad π§π½, who will share his story as a patient with lived experience of a rare disease. This talk will be led by Dr. Enam Haque, whose passion lies in addressing inequalities. βοΈ He has been involved in national and Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) work for a few years. π€© Other than that, he is also involved in national work through Diversity in Medicine & Health (DIMAH), a nationally respected organisation which has advised the GMC on EDI guidance. βπΌ
