Does anyone know when the which day is the rarest of days in the year? πŸ™‹πŸ»β€β™€οΈ It's 29th of February, a day that only comes once every four years ‼️ This day has also been coined the Rare Disease Day to raise awareness about the > 7, 000 existing rare diseases in the world (according to the National Institute of Health, NIH). 🦠

In commemoration of this day, BAMEdical is collaborating with M4RD to organise an event on this very topic! πŸŽ‰The speakers invited to deliver this event are Dr. Laura Furness 🩺, who will be sharing her experience working with patients living with rare diseases, and Mr. Jibreel Arshad 🧍🏽, who will share his story as a patient with lived experience of a rare disease. This talk will be led by Dr. Enam Haque, whose passion lies in addressing inequalities. βš–οΈ He has been involved in national and Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) work for a few years. 🀩 Other than that, he is also involved in national work through Diversity in Medicine & Health (DIMAH), a nationally respected organisation which has advised the GMC on EDI guidance. ✍🏼

As you can tell, there’s no one more qualified to lead a discussion about this topic. πŸ’ͺ🏽 All healthcare students welcomed! 😊
