CL1 had an exciting first few weeks back at the Learning Centre. As we settled into the new academic year, we wanted to share some of the fantastic things we had been doing.
Firstly, CL1 hit the ground running with lots of activities and wellbeing walks. The students were busy picking apples from our apple trees, which were then used to make delicious apple crumbles with the support of our fabulous cooking teacher.
Spending time outdoors linked perfectly with our Pathways topic for this term: The Environment. We began exploring different types of environments and learning about the features that make each one unique. The students produced some excellent work comparing busy cities with peaceful countryside areas, identifying the similarities and differences between them. We also started to explore how our actions can impact the environment and discussed simple ways we can help look after the world around us.
In Maths, we got our brains back into gear after the long summer holidays. Students took part in addition and subtraction bingo, as well as throwing challenges where they added up scores and competed to achieve the highest total. These activities were a fun way to practise key numeracy skills while encouraging teamwork and friendly competition.
Finally, we would like to say a huge welcome back to all members of our school community. We looked forward to an exciting and successful year ahead and we are proud of the positive start the students had made.
