The Garden is a scheduled ancient monument site with evidence of remains of a Roman fort, Malton Castle and a Jacobean Prodigy House underlying the ground. The park is a natural area with large areas of wildlife habitat, but with a central lawned area surrounded by more formal paths and seating where visitors can relax just minutes from the busy town centre. Finally please only bring 'Assistance dogs' on leads to the garden. We are trying to keep this area dog free because of the large number of small children who use the space either at Forest School (restarting April 2025), kindergarten visitors or with family.
