Many of you may be aware of the REACT Now to Beat Colic campaign which was launched last year. The campaign was pioneered by the University of Nottingham, The British Horse Society and World Horse Welfare to educate and help owners spot the early signs of colic. It uses the simple acronym REACT to help owners spot the early signs:
R - restless or agitated
E - eating less or droppings reduced
A - abdominal pain
C - clinical signs
T - tired or lethargic
This invaluable campaign recently won recognition by being awarded the prestigious Veterinary Record Evidence Award.

Please share the post and remember the price that nearly 8 million horses paid for with their lives, for a war that was certainly not theirs.......

Hi everyone! Don't forget it's our Trec next weekend!
Come along for a fun day with an obedience test, control of paces and the OBSTACLE COURSE! Always good fun - like Handy Pony for grown ups of all ages and sizes! Let us know if you can make it or if you want more information!
Important notice
The North Weald Bridleways and Riding Club committee has reluctantly decided not to hold the club's traditional summer shows, this year or for the foreseeable future.
Attendance numbers have been declining for some years, yet the shows are increasingly expensive to hold, especially with the rising costs of emergency first aid cover. We have reached the point where one year with poor weather could financially ruin the club. Furthermore your committee, of decreasing numbers and increasing age, feels that it is no longer feasible to put in so many hours of effort before, during and after the show for such a small number of competitors, and even fewer members.
Your club committee has therefore decided to refocus on a range of other riding and bridleways club activities. Our next, the TREC day, will go ahead as planned on 24th June - entries please to Sue Saunders as per the information on our web site athttp://nwbarc.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2017/02/NWBARC-Trec-2017.pdf . We are planning other activities throughout the year, some just for you, some for you and your horse. Please keep an eye on our web site www.nwbarc.co.uk or here on Facebook.
We fully understand that you may have joined largely for the shows, and are sorry to disappoint you. We will fully refund your membership fees on request (please contact the Membership Secretary, Alex Tait). On the other hand, if you would like to continue as a member, the club will be starting a new membership year from 1st June, and your existing membership will be carried over to a full year, not expiring until 31st May 2018.
We hope you will join us in our new venture, and look forward to seeing you at one of our events soon.
