🥳🤩 This week I received the fabulous news that West Berks have agreed to name the SEMH Specialist School in Section I of my client’s EHCP. This family are delighted that their son will now be able to slowly transition back into education in a therapeutic low arousal environment. After a full year out of mainstream secondary school with autistic burnout and school refusal, this makes me truly very happy. 🤩🤩 PAPER TRIBUNAL WIN 🤩🤩

Last week at a paper SEND Tribunal for a Refusal to Assess, the Court ordered Gloucestershire County Council to undertake an EHC Needs Assessment for a 15 year old young lady whose family I have been supporting. Such a long wait for this family, but so worth it. Congratulations 🙏🏻

A complete reform, absolutely, but it’s not going to be solved any time soon sadly. In the mean time parents keep having to fight to get the support their children deserve.

Calls have been made to radically improve support for students with special needs and their families, who are struggling within the education system.

So many young people are out of school and missing education 🎓 because their Local Authorities are refusing to assess them for an Education, Health and Care Plan, or there are long delays in undertaking assessments. The impact on young people, their education, and their mental health 🧠 is huge. Parents are expected to be experts in the process to advocate for their child and know their rights with Local Authorities.
