Wellington Childminding - Sutton, Ely, Cambridgeshire

Yesterday saw me take the children on one of our wildest adventures yet!!

We headed off to zseabanhamzoo and had a wonderful day seeing so many animals! Enjoying the train ride! Having a delicious picnic and then speaking to someone from Norfolk Constabulary!!

The children had so many fantastic learning experiences and had a WONDERFUL day!!

Safe to say everyone went home happy but tired and hopefully they all had restful nights!! 🦘🐅🐐🦆🐂🫏🦩🦉

With half term and the heat this week I’ve been awful at posting!

However - we saw our weekly reset happen Tuesday morning instead of Monday due to the bank holiday!

We had a primarily indoor day Tuesday due to the excessive heat - choosing to do free play, sensory play, enjoying time with our friends who would usually be at school!

We baked fresh bread for lunch and had a wonderful time connecting and playing! We took over the whole house - free play in the play room, construction in the lounge and baking or sensory bits in the kitchen depending on the time of day!

The house reached a maximum of 26 degrees which I didn’t think was bad going at all for one little air con unit trying to cool the whole place!

Our little ones were able to sleep comfortably and catch up on some much needed sleep with how hard this heat has been!! ❤️

It was a wonderful day together and set us up beautifully for what we got up to Wednesday…. Video to follow later!!

We had such a fun filled day yesterday full of indoor and outdoor creativity and curiosity!

I can’t wait for the children to see what today brings 🫶🏻

We had more of a home day yesterday for our little explorers - this is one of the things that I love about the job.

I truly get to meet the children where they are do what suits them! ❤️

We explored colours and shapes before doing some planting.

The children then helped prepare their lunch, before it was sleep time for all! (Including Willow!!)

We still made sure we had a balanced day with a lovely outdoor walk and bringing the nature in but it was a beautifully slow place instead of a manic Monday!

My evening finished with paperwork organisation and finally some baking to unwind!

We’ve had a Sunday morning deep clean, rearrange and reset!!

It’s safe to say that as a childminder, although I love my job, my work isn’t a typical nine till five Monday through till Friday! There’s lots behind the scenes that I end up doing that nobody sees, and I often get asked why I don’t do five day weeks anymore! However, hopefully you’ll be able to see that although I only do four days of contact time my job actually takes up a lot more than that!

I wouldn’t change it for the world I love inspiring little people to learn! I love what I do, I love that my children love what I do! But there are times where we could all do with a little more balance ❤️
