🎃 The Story of Halloween

Over 2,000 years ago, the ancient Celts in Ireland, Scotland, and parts of Europe celebrated a festival called Samhain (pronounced “Sow-in”). It marked the end of summer and the beginning of winter, a time when people believed that the spirits of the dead could visit the living.

To protect themselves from ghosts, the Celts lit large bonfires and wore animal skins and scary masks to confuse or scare away the wandering spirits. They also left food outside their doors to keep the spirits happy.

When Christianity spread through Europe, the church created All Saints’ Day (also known as All Hallows’ Day) on November 1st to honor saints and the dead. The night before became known as All Hallows’ Eve — which later became Halloween.

Over time, the traditions mixed — costumes, candles, and treats became part of the celebration. When people from Europe moved to America, they brought these customs with them, and Halloween grew into the fun, spooky holiday we know today — full of pumpkins, ghosts, and “trick or treat!” 🎃👻🍬

Pounce – jumping on toys or small prey. (скачам, нахвърлям се)

Scratch – using claws on surfaces or scratching posts. (драскам)

Purr – making a soft, vibrating sound when content. (мъркам)

Climb – scaling furniture or cat trees. (катеря се)

Chase – following moving objects or toys. (гоня, преследвам)

Hop – moving by jumping on all fours. (подскачам)

Nibble – gently eating vegetables or hay. (гриза леко, дъвча на малки хапки)

Dig – making burrows or exploring. (копая)

Thump – hitting the ground with their hind legs as a warning. (тупкам с краче /удрям по земята)

Groom – cleaning themselves or each other. (чистя се / лосня се (грижа за козината)
