Our Art & Design students had the incredible opportunity to spend a week at the UK Centre for Carnival Arts (UK Centre for Carnival Arts) in collaboration with S.H.A.C.E, gaining hands‑on work experience as they helped create costumes for this year’s Luton Carnival 🌟

Throughout the week, students played a major role in preparing creative elements - producing embellishments, costume details, painted surfaces, foiled garments, and contributing to the development of visual pieces inspired by carnival arts and sustainable fashion.

They also explored creative direction for editorial imagery and documentation, transforming the project into a fully immersive, collaborative studio experience.

A huge thank you to Melissa Simon-Hartman (Simon-Hartman London) and the entire team at the UK Centre for Carnival Arts for offering our students such a valuable opportunity. Your dedication and guidance helped our students grow in confidence and fully immerse themselves in the workshops.

Meet Alex, a former Level 3 Games Design student at Barnfield College, who is now continuing his studies at university 👏

We were pleased to welcome Alex back to college to speak with our current students about his journey so far. He spoke on his experience at Barnfield to life at university, the projects he’s currently working on, his top tips for students considering their next steps, and some of his favourite memories from college.

Alex also took the time to look through our students’ final major project work, offering valuable feedback, insight, and encouragement.

With ambitions of working in games programming or cyber security, Alex already has his sights set on securing an internship through the connections he’s made, before hopefully going on to create his own game and join a professional studio in the future 🎮

World Day for Cultural Diversity is about recognising and celebrating the different cultures, backgrounds, and identities that shape who we are🌏

To mark the occasion, we asked our students to share where their heritage comes from and their favourite dishes connected to it, showing how culture is often passed down through families and expressed through food 🍽️
