Our chicks will be leaving us today! So we invited parents in to come and meet them and the children were so excited to show them to their parents. Wonderful memories made, lots of rich conversation and bonding time. Thank you to all parents who were able to come in. We are sad to say goodbye to our lovely little chicks but send them off with lots of love ❤️ 🐣🐥

The Teeny Days chicks have hatched! The eggs arrived on Monday and by Wednesday, all but one have been born! We are hoping the last little one will make it too. The children, staff and parents are all very excited. The children witnessed the chicks being born and it was a wonderful learning experience, with lots of conversations. Now the room is filled with not only our children’s but chick voices too! Aren’t they so cute??

It’s spring time and an opportunity for so much learning at Teeny Days as we see new life unfold after the winter. Our caterpillars arrived a couple of weeks ago and the children watched them grow and grow into big caterpillars, followed by building cocoons and finally witnessing turning into beautiful butterflies which we set free yesterday. The children learned all about the life cycle of a butterfly and observed it all first hand. They learned about what butterflies eat and fed them aswell. It has been a wonderful experience once again and is always one of our favourites 🐛🦋❤️

This week we are thinking about sharing stories! 2026 is the National Year of Reading and yesterday was World Book Day!

Last week was British Science and the children had a blast doing science experiments all week. Each day the children explored different scientific concepts. Some of the activities included: colour mixing - where the children explored how colours change when mixed; Bubble station - where the children explored how bubbles are blown through different objects and how they move through the air; melting ice — where the children explored how ice melts using three different things salt, water and sand. We waited to see which tray melted the fastest; float or sink - where the children tested different objects in water to see whether they would sink or float. Children made predictions of what they thought would happen and then investigated if they were right! The children had a wonderful time as you can see and thoroughly enjoyed the activities.
British Science Week is excellent for early years (EYFS) because it nurtures natural curiosity, fosters critical thinking, and builds confidence through hands-on, play-based exploration of the world. It breaks down STEM stereotypes early, encourages collaborative learning, and develops key skills like observation, prediction, and questioning, all while aligning with early learning goals.
