You saw earlier this week in my stories that something was growing in the studio… 🌿🎨 a little woodland has emerged…✨
I’ve been experimenting (swipe) with a variety of colourways and textures , allowing colour and beaming light to lead along its winding paths. (study for my Home & Away body of work)
It’s a little blend of imagination and special places that stay with me. 💫
Where could you imagine this path might lead you? ✨

Mountain Spirit. 💚✨
This view towards the Mournes has been part of my life forever.💫
Yet every time I sit here with a brush-or simply in silence, taking it all in - it reveals something different. A subtle shift in the light, a fleeting change in atmosphere across the fields and hills below, a colour I’d never noticed before, or the ever-changing shapes of the hedgerows and trees.
She has always been my greatest creative inspiration. 🎨✨
I don’t always paint her as a literal landscape. Instead, I try to capture the spirit of this place - its raw beauty, its strength, resilience and its energy. Through colour, texture and expressive marks, I paint how it feels.
Sometimes she’s peaceful, fragrant and bathed in summer light. Other times she’s freezing, wild and windswept. A place that demands you to adapt. A place that challenges you and builds character. A place that inspires. A place of freedom. A place to explore. A place of breathtaking beauty unlike anywhere else I’ve ever known. And always, a place to come home to and recharge. 😌
I could paint this exact view a million times… and I’d still discover something new.
I suppose that’s the magic of places that are part of who you are. ✨

🌿 Cultivating Place
An experimental large abstract that found its way onto my easel during the holidays, after spending precious time with family, soaking up the beauty of sun drenched gardens and wild spaces.
Organic in nature, free-flowing, richly textured and guided by instinct, with just a few deliberate marks. It features a softer tone but still includes elements of my signature style. 🖌️(swipe across)
Initially inspired by the vibrant, scented flowers my Mum grew for my garden, and by wandering through hers, this summery feel painting ended up being a little feast to celebrate my proud family roots from Lurgan to Castlewellan, with memories, colour and nature at its heart.
I stepped away from traditional forms and allowed bold shapes to emerge naturally, letting raw emotion and energy guide the canvas , which ultimately unearthed rich textures and unplanned, interesting marks along the way.
The deep blue horizon represents the sea and distant cliff shapes - a wild and natural landscape surrounding Castlewellan and the Mournes, my late Father’s home place, which continues to inspire my work. ✨
Definitely something to continue with here and I will include in the first painting of my new ‘Home and Away’ series body of work…
💭 Is there a flower, colour or place that holds special memories for you? I’d love to hear about what and where inspires and excites you! If you’d like to discuss a bespoke commission in a size that suits your space, send me a DM. I only have one or two commission slots available to be completed in time for Christmas. 💫

🏝️ Holidays gave me the chance to fall back in love with oils. A little three-piece collection of experiments inspired by where I belong and where I’ve wandered. 🌙☀️
I revisited soft blending to capture the light dancing across the waters of Crete, while returning to my more expressive, textured oils for the moonlit Mournes. I also found myself enjoying the drama of shadows, especially in the fourth piece.
I even broke one of the “rules” by using acrylic ink pens over parts of the oils… and somehow, it worked. 😁 (currently drying in the studio)
Now I’m contemplating a new Home & Away series, celebrating the ever-changing colours, light and moods that continue to inspire me - both at home and on my travels. 💫
