One advantage of taking my son to rhe bus stop this morning was the fact Tesco shop was done and dusted by 8.4am. It is like the old days again! 😂
Of course, I forgot my bags...as we all do, so one of two new student bags is now this. Some of my bags for life have reached the end of theirs, and I like to turn up with different ones now and again. 😊

A busy week at Acorns HQ, time ro rise and shine. I am looking forward to seeing some happy faces this week. If the thought of the first full week of school is daunting, take a deep breath and take one day at a time.

Today in my Mary Poppins bag is a mixture of lego, jenga, gems, games and sausage dog templates (plus the odd element of curriculum info!)

Good morning!
Wishing you all a good Saturday. After a late night planning, it is time for general weekend jobs plus a little more work for me today.

What is your day looking like?

I was just scrolling, as we all do, and came across this amazing charity. They have been working alongside a local SEND school this week. I was blown away with their work. Just check out their page and look at the peace and calm these children feel when experiencing musical hydrotherapy for disabled children. (They also work with adults.)

A nice reminder, it is SO tempting to throw lots of questions at them when they get back from school/college!

School pickup can be the moment everything a child has been holding together all day begins to spill out.

They may be tired, hungry, overloaded, quiet, irritable or suddenly emotional — and firing questions at them the moment they come through the gate can add even more demand.

Sometimes the most helpful welcome is simple: warmth, food, low pressure and time to decompress.

Connection first. Questions later.

And remember, not every child will want to talk about their day straight away. Giving them space does not mean we are ignoring them — it can be exactly what helps them regulate enough to reconnect.
