Today our amazing children and care team are taking part in a sponsored 10k walk 👀 that everyone at Charnwood House organised.

The charity is Cope Children's Trust.

The children joining the walk range from just 4 years old all the way up to 16, showing that no matter your age, you can make a difference ❤️❤️❤️

This same brilliant team organised the Snowden Sponsored Walk last year, raising an incredible £1,400. 🤩🤩🤩

They are absolute superstars!

It’s been a tough couple of days (actually, if we’re being honest, a tough few months) for our team at our home in Loughborough.

What’s stood out through it all is the courage, care, and sheer heart of the team there. The way they’ve continued to show up for our young people, to keep loving, listening, and holding steady in the storm. That's what real care looks like.

The difference they are making is love. They love above all. And we love that. ❤️

To say I’m proud of them would be an understatement.

Sometimes the work in children’s homes isn’t easy, but it’s always meaningful. And it’s made possible by people who refuse to give up, even when outsiders judging from a distance might say ' the risk is too high' or 'you can’t meet that need.”

Charnwood House is a home filled with heart, joy, and laughter. And I love it! 🥰

From the moment you walk through the door, you feel it. Warmth, energy, and genuine giggles. There’s banter, smiles, and those everyday moments that say so much about how safe and connected the children feel. The team, the kids, everyone cares for each other.

What really stands out is the manager, Michelle. Confident, present, and full of love for what she does. She leads with clarity and heart, bringing warmth, fun, and lightness to her role in a way that shapes the whole home.

A small but perfect example of this is the 'positive poo' and 'positive tomato' that sits on her desk (photo attached) 🤣 A gift from one of our kids who recently turned 18 and has since moved on. The gift is sweet, funny, and a wonderful reflection of the humour and playfulness Michelle brings every day and everyone appreciates it!

The team follow Michelle’s lead beautifully. in such a short time, they’ve created a space where children (who recently moved in) are beginning to trust, grow, and smile more freely. The children have already made fantastic memories, experienced new things, and taken part in some great things.

What’s most powerful is seeing how far the children have already come. They’re beginning to show signs of safety and trust that their social care teams had never witnessed before.

Laughter, playfulness, openness, and a sense of belonging that can only grow in a home filled with love and consistency.

It’s extraordinary to see, and I couldn’t be prouder of Michelle, her team, and the culture they are building at Charnwood House.

Whenever I visit Cherry Tree House, I feel everything we hope to create in our homes. I felt the love, connection, peace, and belonging.

As providers, we often talk about culture. How we build it, how we hold it, and how we pass it on. But what I experience here is beyond words.

The culture at Cherry Tree House is alive. It’s in the smiles, the laughter, the gentle way staff speak with children, and in the warmth that fills every room.

The manager is currently on leave. And yet, the home runs with such calmness and care.

That alone says everything about the leadership in place. She’s created something lasting. A team that feels safe, empowered, and trusted to carry on with love and confidence.

That’s not just good leadership. That's great love. 🥰

Every time I visit, I leave feeling a little fuller. There’s something deeply special about the relationships in this home. Between the adults, and with the children. Every interaction is honest, kind, and rooted in real connection.

I took this photo as I left, because I wanted to hold onto the feeling.

This home is more than well-led.
It’s well-loved.

And love, after all, is the foundation of everything we do.
