Korin Lebov Tutoring

Korin Lebov Tutoring I am an experienced teacher who has been working with children outwith the classroom since 2020. Hi, I'm Korin!

I'm a mum to two girls and a stepmum to two boys and a qualified primary school teacher with 10+ years experience working in the classroom and 3+ years tutoring privately (online and in-person). I'm a specialist in numeracy/maths and English literacy and I work with children and young people aged 4-14 and occasionally adults. I am a Member of the General Teaching Council Scotland and have PVG clea

rance (Scottish equivalent to DBS in England and Wales). I am passionate about teaching and learning, and especially about growing confidence and skills as I believe that each of these help to raise the other up and I am all about raising children and young people up! I tailor my tutoring to the individual needs of each child and young person whom I work with and I am highly experienced in additional support for learning needs (SEN). I do lots and lots of professional development and love using the best interactive and fun resources to making learning in literacy and maths as fun as it can possibly be! My groups sessions have 5 children maximum as I like to get to know each child well and leave lots of room for personalisation. I always offer a phone call with parents as well as an individual meeting with a child and their parent(s) ahead of starting tutoring. The services I offer are
- Group sessions in phonics, reading and writing (two groups - 5-7 year olds and 6-8 year olds)
- Book clubs (7-9 year olds and 8-11 year olds)
- Group sessions in numeracy and maths (4-12 year olds)
- 1:1 online sessions during school hours
- 1:1 online and in-person sessions after school hours/weekends FULL with a waiting list

Please contact me if you would like to discuss tutoring for your child :-).

At Conexus Tuition East Lothian, we're feeling rested and re-energised, excited for the year ahead 🤩. We can't wait to welcome back all of our students on Tuesday 7th January at Abbey Church, North Berwick & Dirleton Kirk and Wednesday the 8th at Longniddry Parish Church. We are also thrilled to be bringing our teacher-led, bespoke, small-group classes to Musselburgh on Thursdays very soon!

We will have a busy term supporting our Nat 5 pupils as some complete prelims and all of them power on towards the main exams in May. If your young person could do with support in closing gaps in their knowledge, skills and exam technique in Maths, English, Chemistry or Biology, now is the perfect time to join us.

We also offer classes across the primary and early secondary years in Maths and Literacy and as a new addition to our services this year, we will be providing reduced price daytime classes tailored to those young people not currently attending school or on a reduced timetable.

Please contact Korin on 07941 355045 or at [email protected], or simply complete our enquiry form and we will contact you: https://conexustuition.co.uk/enrolment-east-lothian/.

All the very best to you and yours for a fabulous 2025!

🐣EASTER REVISION SESSIONS!🐣

We are excited to be offering the following masterclasses during the
Easter holidays. Please call/message Korin on 07941355045 to discuss
or email [email protected] if your child could benefit.

NAT 5 BIOLOGY, CHEMISTRY AND PHYSICS
These exam focused sessions will be led by our highly experienced
specialist teacher across three mornings. £20 per hourly session for
one subject, £35 for two subjects or only £50 for all three subjects!

RUAE – NAT 5 ENGLISH
The Reading for Understanding, Analysis and Evaluation paper is worth
a whopping 30% of the total marks for Nat 5 English!
It should be easy to do well as the answers are all there in the text
in front of the student – right? Wrong! Lots of students score poorly
in this paper as they don’t understand what the questions are really
asking of them and how best to structure their answers.
During these three hour-long sessions we will focus on strategies to
maximise marks, squeezing as much as possible out of that 30% and
helping your child to boost their overall grade.

TIMES TABLES MASTERCLASSES
Times tables can cause no amount of stress to children and parents
alike. Yet, they are a crucial foundation for all numeracy and maths
processes in upper primary and throughout secondary school, as well as
a life-long skill. During these 3 hour-long sessions your child will
learn lots of clever strategies, making links in their understanding
of multiplication and division and developing that all important
fluency. And I can promise that we will have fun too! Group is aimed
at P5-P7 but younger or older children are welcome too.

COMING SOON IN EARLY 2024…. I’ve absolutely loved every minute of working with children 1:1 in my tutoring business over the last number of years, helping so many to close gaps in their maths and literacy skills and increase their confidence across their learning. I’m very excited to now be expanding to offer bespoke, small group sessions locally in East Lothian as part of Conexus Tuition - a company that shares my ethics and vision. I’m very happy to have a chat with any parents who would like to explore support for their child’s learning and would really appreciate shares with others who may be interested. You can fill in the enquiry form below and I will get back to you or contact me directly if you prefer 😊.

Telling the time 🤍

Physically making an analogue clock can help children understand time a little better.

Where should we place each number? Which numbers go opposite each other? How many minutes are there between each one?

Here we have also used masking tape to easily show the four quarters.

How do you feel about teaching time?

Although it is half-term here in Scotland and some of my clients are taking a break, I’ve had fantastic sessions with a couple of my regulars as well as working with some lovely, inspiring young people for the first time 😊.

🌈On Saturday, I worked as usual with two of my favourite brothers. Brother 1 and I wrapped up the work we’ve been doing on silent letters with a cloze comprehension text. He did brilliantly and after some time demonstrating his progress with Nessy spelling, he talked me into a game of Star Wars matching pairs, not that I needed much convincing as it is great for working memory skills as well as a lot of fun. Brother 2 has come on amazingly with handwriting and we are starting to develop cursive skills, which he seems really motivated by! We also worked on descriptive writing using adjectives and experimenting with some adverbs.

🌈 On Monday morning, I worked with such a lovely little boy for the very first time. I really enjoyed getting to know where he is at on his educational journey and finding out about his interests. We checked the consonant and vowel digraphs and then focused on tricky words and some fluency work. Then later on, my lovely 1:1 pupil and I worked on place value with decimal numbers. For someone who was frightened by decimal numbers not so long ago, she did amazingly well and I am so happy to see her confidence continuing to increase 🥰.

🌈 On Tuesday, I worked with my 7+ candidate, who returned for his second session full of energy and enthusiasm! We focused on multiplication and division arrays and he is now acing the 2, 5 and 10 times tables and associated division facts/missing numbers, which is very impresssive given that he has never done them at school. We then did lots of vocabulary work - using tricky words that he is yet to master, as well as a comprehension about Roald Dahl’s writing, which he loves.

🌈 Wednesday was my busiest day, starting off with my another session with my new pupil. We did further work on tricky words, this time getting Dad involved with games that are useful for ‘overlearning’ and fun for all of the family. We also worked intensively on the ea sound, which was causing some confusion and I left him with some activities to practise his skills. I then ran to my regular maths 1:1 for a catch-up session, in-person for a nice change, where we recapped our 9 times tables and tackled the 12s head-on. We also worked on addition and subtraction chimney sums. Last but definitely not least, I held my very first online book club and met a very inspiring and talented girl for the first time for fun exploration of a rich text with learning about adjectives, similes and metaphors.

🌈 I now have the rest of the week off to spend with my own small people doing cosy activities and getting out and about when it’s not too windy and rainy! 🪵🃏☔️
