⭐ 🌟 Sometimes all children need is a little bit of positive reinforcement and some motivation ⭐🌟

During tutoring sessions, I keep activities short and focused — usually just 10–12 minutes per task. This helps children stay engaged, avoid feeling overwhelmed, and feel a sense of achievement throughout the session.

After completing each activity, they earn a sticker for their reward chart 🎉☺️🌟

Once they collect all 5 stickers, they get to choose a small reward at the end of the session.

This simple system keeps learning fun, builds motivation, and encourages children to stay focused while working towards their goals. I create a chart for each child so they can visually see their achievements!

A little reward can go a long way in building positive learning habits 💛

Struggling with times tables?
🎵 Try turning them into rhymes! 🎵

Children often remember information better when it’s fun, repetitive, and catchy.

Instead of just repeating facts over and over, create simple rhymes to help times tables stick in their memory. These are some my tutee and I have came up with!!

Rhymes make learning more engaging and less distressing for a child. The key to learning them is Practice practice practice!

Learning maths doesn’t always have to boring💡

Your child doesn’t need to know every times table before getting started. ✏️

This multiplication square helps children use the tables they already know to work out the ones they’re still learning.

In this activity, even if a child hasn’t fully learnt their 6, 7, 8 or 9 times tables yet, they can still confidently fill in parts of the grid by using facts they already know, like their 2x, 5x and 10x tables.

For example:
✅ 6 × 2
✅ 6 × 5
✅ 7 × 10

This builds confidence, helps children spot number patterns, and makes times tables feel much less overwhelming.

Maths doesn’t have to be all-or-nothing — children can build knowledge step by step. ⭐

Using manipulatives during my tutoring sessions, helps bring learning to life by turning abstract concepts into something concrete and meaningful. Whether it’s using maths resources to build number understanding or word cards to structure sentences, hands-on activities give children the opportunity to explore, practise, and develop confidence in a way that feels engaging and accessible.

When a child struggles with dividing- Miss Frost will always get out the chocolate magic Stars out!

It was a huge hit and she picked it up so quickly! Her homework was far to hard for her level so we decided to work more visually first to build confidence before trying to tackle it!

📚☀️Keep Young Minds Active This Summer! 📚☀️

👩🏻‍🏫As a teacher, I often remind families how important it is for children to keep learning during the summer holidays. While the break is a well-deserved rest, six weeks without any academic engagement can lead to what’s often called the “summer slide” – where children begin to forget some of what they’ve learnt this school year.

📉 Research shows that without regular practice, children can lose weeks’ worth of progress in key areas, such as; reading, writing, and maths.

⏰🧠That’s why it’s so important to keep little minds ticking over the summer – even just 15–30 minutes a day of fun, focused learning can make all the difference!

📚🧮Whether it’s through reading a book together, practicing times tables, keeping a holiday journal, writing stories or exploring creative educational activities.
Consistency helps build confidence and makes the transition back to school in September so much easier for children.
