Thursday took Primary NumeraSee to St. John's Primary School, Coleraine for a full day of maths with the whole staff team.

And what a brilliant group!

We spent the day exploring number sense, the four operations, mental maths, practical representations, problem solving, reasoning and progression — with plenty of Connectrio™, poppers and hands-on maths along the way!

But one piece of feedback summed up something I feel really strongly about:

💬 “Great for the whole staff to all sing off the same hymn sheet.”

That’s such an important part of whole-school professional learning.

It isn’t about every teacher teaching in exactly the same way. It’s about developing a shared mathematical language, shared understanding and shared approaches so that as children move through the school, their learning connects and builds rather than continually starting again.

And the rest of the feedback was pretty special too…

💬 “You held the room from start to finish and that’s no easy task!”

💬 “Excellent practical ideas… definitely gave me ideas for my future practice.”

💬 “Really loved the whole session. A very positive experience.”

And one I particularly loved:

💬 “Building confidence in the children, giving them choice in how they learn and develop their maths skills for life.”

That’s the goal. Not simply children who can do maths, but children who understand it, can talk about it, can represent it and feel confident enough to have a go.

A huge thank you to everyone at St John’s PS, Coleraine for the warm welcome, the laughs, the enthusiasm and for throwing yourselves into a full day of maths with me!

Another fantastic school investing in better mathematical experiences for its children. 💙💛

This is exactly what I hoped would come from yesterday. 💙

So delighted to see Dunclug College at the Primary NumeraSee training and, importantly, to have primary and post-primary colleagues learning and talking about mathematics together.

That joined-up approach is so important. What happens in primary doesn’t stay in primary — the foundations we build, the strategies children use, their understanding, confidence and even their feelings about maths all travel with them.y

Yesterday started some really important conversations around progression, transition, mathematical understanding and confidence — conversations I’m determined we keep going well into the future.

Because improving children’s mathematical experiences has to be bigger than any one classroom, school phase or training day.

Thank you Mrs Hood and Mrs Kelly for getting so involved yesterday. I’m really looking forward to continuing this conversation! 🤩

💛🖤 Developing Numeracy at Dunclug! 🖤💛

A valuable day of professional learning for Mrs Hood and Mrs Kelly, who attended training with Katrina Bradley from NumeraSee .

The session explored practical approaches, manipulatives, problem-solving strategies and different mathematical approaches to help us further support our young mathematicians and develop numeracy across the school.

There was a particular focus on building strong mathematical foundations, including times tables, confidence and developing positive attitudes towards mathematics. 🔢🧠

A great opportunity to bring new ideas and approaches back to Dunclug as we continue to support our pupils to and develop the skills they need for life! 💛🖤

Today was the turn of , Belfast — and another iconic day!

I spent the day with 40 teachers, getting properly hands-on with maths — exploring practical approaches, manipulatives, problem solving, mathematical talk and how we can make the maths children are learning visible, meaningful and easier to understand.

Lots of building, investigating, questioning, discussing and, importantly, thinking about how practical maths can translate into everyday classroom practice right across the school, not to mention all the laughs.

The feedback at the end made my day:

💬 “It was great to feel excited about maths.”

💬 “It wasn’t a case of you sitting and talking at us — it was practical!”

💬 “So insightful and inspiring. I loved all of the practical activities and am now investigating ways to bring them to my own classroom.”

And one that made me laugh…

😂 “Think I know how I’m spending some of my PTA money!”

That’s exactly what I want staff to leave Primary NumeraSee training with — not just ideas they enjoyed on the day, but ideas they can actually see themselves using with children tomorrow.

A huge thank you to Mrs Hunter and Mrs Marttila for inviting me into St Bride’s and for such a warm welcome, and to all teachers for getting stuck into everything I threw at them!

Another room full of adults playing with maths, talking about maths and hopefully leaving a little more excited about maths. 💙💛

We already have dates in the diary, so watch this space for what we have in store. 😉

Tuesday was the turn of Bridge Integrated Primary School, Banbridge — a school I’ve built an ever-growing relationship with over the past few months. 💙💛

As existing users of our Times Tables Tubs, and following some brilliant in-depth consultations with their amazing maths coordinator duo, I spent part of the summer carrying out a whole-school audit of their maths planners across every year group.

Today brought it all together — almost 50 staff, one room and a full day dedicated to maths.

We got practical, explored manipulatives and representations, challenged thinking, looked at progression, problem solving and conceptual understanding, and shared the findings from the whole-school audit. but this

This feedback will stay with me:

💬 “If only I could have had a maths teacher like you. I know I would not have the same anxiety levels I do today towards maths.”

Because ultimately, this is about more than planners, resources or results. It’s about the mathematical experiences we give children now and the relationship with maths they carry into the future.

And we’re not finished! I’ll be back in a few weeks to support the implementation of Connectrio™ across classes and to host a parent workshop.

Thank you for trusting Primary NumeraSee and including me in your vision for creating even better mathematical experiences for your children. 💙💛

What a brilliant Monday at Drumahoe Primary School.

There’s something I genuinely love about walking into a school with a room full of staff ready to talk maths — and the Drumahoe team absolutely threw themselves into today’s session.

We explored practical maths, manipulatives, problem solving, mathematical thinking and ways to break learning down so that children can really SEE and apply the maths confidently.

And the feedback afterwards… 🥹

💬 “Made me rethink strategies to create more meaningful teaching experiences for the children.”

💬 “Breaking down learning barriers that I, as a teacher, have taken for granted pupils should know.”

💬 “I can adapt my support to my 1–1 by using more visual props and breaking it down.”

💬 “Thank you so much. That was inspirational!”

And possibly my favourite…

😂 “Probably the first time I’ve never yawned during a training session.”

On a Monday morning, I’m taking that as a win! 😂🙌

A huge thank you to everyone at Drumahoe PS for the warm welcome, the brilliant participation and the willingness to get stuck in and try something different.

Practical. Visual. Meaningful. Maths that makes sense. 💙💛

What a morning at Central Integrated Primary School, Carrickfergus! 💙➕✨

A whole-school session with teaching staff and classroom assistants — all getting stuck into practical maths, talking strategies, challenging thinking and, most importantly, having a bit of fun with it too!

We explored number sense, mental maths strategies, times tables, mathematical language and practical approaches that can be used consistently right across the school.

And I absolutely loved the energy in the room. 🙌

Some of the feedback afterwards made my day:

💬 “So many lightbulb moments.”
💬 “Made maths actually enjoyable.”
💬 “So many simple ideas to use.”
💬 “Made understanding certain numeracy topics easier.”
💬 “Really informative and accessible ideas.”
💬 “Made maths fun for a maths phobic!”

That last one is exactly why I do what I do.

Maths doesn’t need to feel complicated. Sometimes it’s about giving staff the right representation, the right language and a practical strategy that suddenly makes the mathematics click — for them and for the children they support.

A huge thank you to everyone at Central Integrated Primary School for throwing themselves into the morning with such enthusiasm. I had an absolute ball! 💙

🔢 NUMERACY TRAINING… but make it hands-on! 🧮✨

Following on from our very successful pupil and parent NumeraSee workshops last year, today it was OUR turn! 😄

Our teachers, classroom assistants and one-to-one support staff all came together for a fantastic whole-staff NumeraSee Numeracy Training Day — getting stuck into practical activities, exploring resources and picking up lots of ideas to bring straight back into our classrooms. 🟦🟥🟨

There was plenty of thinking, problem-solving and discussion… and possibly a little healthy competition along the way! 👀😂 Who knew cubes could get so competitive?!

A huge thank you to NumeraSee for such an engaging and worthwhile day. We’re excited to build on the success of last year’s workshops and continue developing confident, enthusiastic mathematicians across our school. 💙💛

Learning together. Growing together. Building bright futures for our pupils. 🌟

1 more sleep… and we’re off again! 🤗

There’s something about the beginning of a new school year that always brings a real buzz — and I genuinely can’t wait to get back to what I love.

Meeting inspiring teachers and support staff.
Working in brilliant nurseries and schools.
Collaborating with Regional Colleges and higher education institutions.
Talking maths, sharing ideas and finding new ways to make it visual, practical and meaningful.

And this year there’s something pretty special added to the mix… rolling out Connectrio™ to schools across Ireland and finally seeing something I’ve spent so long developing make its way into the hands of teachers and children. 🟥🟨🟦

There are new resources coming, new collaborations, lots of school visits and, undoubtedly, a car permanently filled with maths equipment. 😂

A very exciting year ahead for Primary NumeraSee.

Back doing what I love. Let’s go! 🚀💙

When Primary NumeraSee HQ becomes a family operation… 😂💙💛❤️

While I was away on holidays, 20,000 Connectrio™ cubes decided to arrive at my house, a week ahead of schedule. 😳

Cue my poor neighbour, who very kindly carried EVERY. SINGLE. BOX. into his own house for safe keeping until I got home.

Mortified doesn’t even cover it. 🫣 He wouldn’t accept anything for doing it either, so a giant airport Toblerone was the very least I could arrive home with. 😂🍫

Fast-forward to this week and, with the new school year just around the corner, it was time to call in the next round of reinforcements…

My mum and my little sister 🫶🏻
Charlotte Gormley Edelle Gormley .

They volunteered a full day at NumeraSee HQ helping me turn mountains of boxes, crates and thousands upon thousands of magnetic cubes into classroom-ready Connectrio™ sets.

Safe to say, they may think twice before volunteering again. 😂

This is definitely the side of running a small business you don’t always see.

A huge thank you to my brilliant helpers, my exceptionally good neighbour, and every school and teacher who has ordered Connectrio™ and trusted Primary NumeraSee to become part of their maths classroom.

20,000 cubes have landed. September… we’re coming for you! 💙💛❤️

A little moment worth celebrating… Connectrio® is officially trademarked! 🟥🟦🟨

What started as an idea to get children building, seeing and talking about maths is becoming something much bigger — and having the Connectrio name officially protected feels like a pretty special milestone.

We’ve been very busy behind the scenes building the resources, activities and teacher support that will sit alongside Connectrio®… but we’ll save all of that for when we’re properly back in back-to-school mode.

For now, we’re just taking a moment to enjoy this one.
