A project designed to reduce falls ended up revealing something much bigger.

Across ten North London care homes using Ally Cares , falls reduced by 87% and 52% of residents were sleeping better.

Care teams also began seeing the difference better sleep could make during the day, with residents reported to be calmer and more alert.

It shows why looking beyond a single outcome matters. Sometimes improving one part of a resident's life can change much more than expected.

We're delighted to share that Ally Cares has been shortlisted for Health Tech Product of the Year at the 2026 LaingBuisson Awards.

We're incredibly proud of the technology, but even prouder of what care teams are achieving with it every day.

A huge thank you to all the care homes and care teams we work with. Your experience, feedback and willingness to share what you're learning continue to shape Ally.

AI is becoming a much bigger part of care. But what should we actually expect it to do?

For Ally Cares , the answer isn't to replace the knowledge and judgement of care teams. It's to give them information that can help them understand residents better and make better decisions about their care.

In his latest article, Tom looks at why the success of AI should ultimately be judged by what changes for the people receiving care.

When someone you love moves into a care home, you can't be there for every moment. You have to trust that the people caring for them understand what they need, including during the time they spend alone in their bedroom.

That’s why better information can matter to families too.

It can help care teams understand a resident’s individual patterns, recognise when something changes and have more informed conversations with families about how their relative is doing.

Technology should never replace that relationship. But it can give care teams more information to support it.

Sometimes it’s the small changes that tell you the most.

A resident may be waking more often, moving differently or becoming more unsettled when they’re alone in their bedroom. On their own, those changes may not seem significant, but over time they can help care teams build a much clearer picture of what is happening.

Having that information means changes can be recognised earlier and care adapted around the individual.

That’s where better insight can make a real difference.

Most care homes already have technology that tells them when a resident actively asks for help.

The bigger opportunity is understanding what happens when they don't.

Advanced resident monitoring adds another layer of information, helping care teams recognise changes, understand individual patterns and make better decisions about care.

At Care Show Birmingham on 7–8 October, we'll be explaining how Ally Cares works alongside existing nurse call systems and what that additional insight can mean in practice.

If you're considering what the next generation of care technology should actually deliver, come and challenge us with your questions.

A routine bedroom check might only take a few minutes. But for a resident who is sleeping well, being disturbed can have an impact long after the care team has left the room.

At Elmbrook Court, Ally Cares helped the care team reduce unnecessary checks while providing care closer to when residents actually needed it.

Safer care doesn't always mean more checks. Sometimes it means knowing when to check.

What happens when care teams have greater insight into their residents?

Across independent NHS and ICB evaluations, advanced resident monitoring has been linked to significant reductions in falls, hospital admissions and ambulance call-outs.

The results on this graphic tell an important story about what can happen when care teams have access to information that was previously unavailable to them.

Better insight creates more opportunities to recognise change and act earlier.

Advanced resident monitoring can tell you more than when a resident needs immediate help.

For Nicola Ray, Registered Manager and the care team at Oaklands Rest Home , hearing repeated coughing through Ally Cares prompted them to take a closer look at two residents.

One tested positive for COVID and another was found to have a chest infection.

Listen to Nicola telling the story. It's a powerful example of how greater resident insight can help care teams recognise a change in condition and act sooner.
