Today was a good day, especially as the sun was out! Made even better by meeting Atticus, a therapy dog who somehow knew exactly where to be and who needed him most.
Isn’t he gorgeous?! ❤️

There’s a part of my work I’ve never really talked about here. I’ve trained as a Soul Midwife or an of life companion.

I met Atticus in the conservatory of the hospice where I am giving my time. Atticus padded in when I was in between visits, while I was scribbling notes. He brought me comfort that he probably didn’t know I needed 🥰

This work is hard to describe. You sit with people at the end of their lives. You’re let into rooms where families are trying to hold themselves together. You hear stories, memories, things people have been carrying for years. Conversations that kept getting put off until there was no more time to put them off.
Being trusted in that way does something to you.
I’m still learning from the people I sit with, those who are dying, their families and from the staff who show up for this every single day. The care I see in them constantly catches me off guard, the way they go over and Abi e in so many ways.

Grateful to be any part of it. To witness. To show up.​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​

There’s so much I want to share about what I’ve learned, the conversations I’ve had - how things feel so connected finally and make personal sense for me. But today - I’ll just say Atticus was the cherry on the cake today ❤️🐶
