Below there's a narrative written by someone dealing with an intense fear of abandonment.

As a person suffering with BDD I hate and fear abandonment above everything. I suppose I can't speak for other people experiencing BPD, but I have this huge issue connecting with people on a platonic level. Therefore, anyone that I fall in love with becomes my lover, best friend and to an extent, my parent. I think other people might relate to me in this regard, but I digress.

So when I lose my person by abandonment, I essentially lose my everything. I love this person more than I could ever possibly love myself. I would die without my person. No one is as cool or funny or smart as my person. I would do anything for them. Losing them is my biggest fear. In a lot of ways, it's the only thing I fear. With my person, I feel complete. I feel like the world is better, albeit I still get depressed some days. It's the only taste of normal I know.

My person is like a rock that grounds me. They're the light at the end of the tunnel. They're my reason for living.

A lot of intense feelings there. Us borderlines have a lot of love to give. That love, unfortunately, comes with a lot of downsides. We really would do anything for you. I'm sorry if I do something crazy if you try to leave me. I'm not saying it's right. I'm saying we really can't help it. We really are roses with thorns and fire.
