🌿 A Botany Club Adventure!

Yesterday afternoon, our Botany enthusiasts took an autumnal stroll through Kensington Gardens, spotting and identifying a variety of tree species while collecting their leaves and seeds.

Back at the college, they made sure to water their saplings planted before half-term and checked on the mini vegetable garden on the library balcony. 🌱

ALPS value added is a measure of student progress, which compares actual outcomes with expected grades based on students’ prior attainment. Ranking in the top 5% nationally means MPW Birmingham students have not only met expectations but exceeded them, often by a considerable margin.

Our international students have had a busy few days getting to know each other and settling into their new home.

During their induction sessions, they learned about the importance of attendance and staying focused in their studies. They were also introduced to the local GP, shown how to open a bank account, stay safe online, and travel safely around Birmingham and the rest of the UK.

A sunny summer in London!

Over a packed couple of weeks, our MPW London Summer School students explored the city from every angle.

From breath-taking views across the city on The London Eye to close encounters with prehistoric dinosaurs at The Natural History Museum, and of course some competitive rounds of mini-golf, all whilst making life-long friends.

What a summer!

When they weren't in the classroom, our Summer School students in Cambridge were out making the most of everything the city had to offer.

From peaceful punting along the River Cam to adrenaline-filled rock climbing adventures, they definitely created some unforgettable memories.

From MPW Cambridge to the University of Cambridge!

Keyang and Rose are making the short trip across the city to start their studies at the 6th ranked university in the world. What a huge achievement. Well done!

Exams are a fundamental part of education, and to succeed, students must be properly prepared and feel fully confident when sitting them.

Our model of frequent, timed assignments and mock exams is designed to assess student performance, build knowledge, and refine essential exam skills. By regularly taking part in timed assignments under supervised conditions, the fear and stress of exams is gradually reduced. By the time the real ones come around, students feel calmer and more confident.

We know this method enables students to perform better in exams and achieve higher grades - allowing them to successfully progress to their desired next steps in education.

Since our founding in 1973, MPW has been dedicated to helping students gain admission to Oxford and Cambridge. In fact, supporting Oxbridge applicants was one of the core reasons our college was established.

Each year, we guide 20 to 30 students through the Oxbridge application process. Over the past two decades, we’ve supported nearly 700 applicants—many of whom have gone on to secure places at these world-renowned universities.

As part of our commitment to ensuring that every MPW Birmingham student receives up-to-date, personalised career guidance throughout their time at the college, our Year 11 and 12 students attended a Post-18 Careers Fair held at Edgbaston Stadium.

The fair helped students begin considering their post-A Level and post-GCSE options early, allowing them to make well-informed decisions about their futures. A wide array of universities and apprenticeship providers were present, offering students the chance to explore various pathways and gain insight into application procedures and course offerings.

Following the fair, students were encouraged to reflect on their experiences in discussions with their Personal Tutors, helping to spark meaningful conversations about their future career aspirations.

University College London UCL is another global top 10 university where MPW students continue to succeed.

Each year, students from MPW colleges secure places at University College London, ranked 9th in the world in the latest QS World University Rankings QS World University Rankings.

UCL is one of the world’s most prestigious multidisciplinary institutions, making it a top choice for ambitious A level students.

MPW alumni are currently studying a wide range of subjects at UCL, including Neuroscience, Architecture, Psychology, Media, Global Humanitarian Studies, Philosophy, Chemistry, History of Art, Management Science, French, and German.
