Infection Control Reminder
“Clean, Disinfect, Sterilise – Repeat!”
Infection prevention is everyone’s responsibility.
Remember the three golden steps after each patient:
1️⃣ Decontaminate all instruments (rinse and check for debris).
2️⃣ Disinfect surfaces using approved products.
3️⃣ Sterilise instruments and always check the autoclave cycle printout.
📋 Bonus Tip: Keep your HTM 01-05 knowledge sharp — it’s often tested in NEBDN exams and inspected by the CQC in practice.

❤🔥 OSCE Spotlight: Cardiac Arrest in the Dental Surgery ❤🔥
A patient collapses in the waiting area — unresponsive, not breathing normally.
👉 What’s your very first step?
👉 How do you deliver effective CPR?
👉 When do you use the AED?
Cardiac arrest is a high-stakes scenario that NEBDN OSCEs always test, and one every dental nurse must be confident in.
✅ Key steps to remember:
Shout for help & call 999 immediately.
Begin CPR: 30 compressions : 2 breaths, at 100–120/min.
Use the AED as soon as it arrives (pads upper right chest + lower left rib).
Continue CPR until emergency services take over.
This OSCE scenario is covered in detail in our Medical Emergencies revision pack with:
📖 Step-by-step guidance
💡 OSCE-style questions
🃏 Flashcards for quick recall
📚 Practice drills
Because when it comes to cardiac arrest, every second counts. ⚡
💬 Test yourself: What is the correct depth of chest compressions for an adult? Comment below 👇

🩺 Medical Emergencies are one of the most tested areas in the NEBDN exam — and also one of the most important skills in real practice.
Do you know the ABCDE approach? 👇
A – Airway: Is it clear?
B – Breathing: Rate, depth, sounds.
C – Circulation: Pulse, skin colour, capillary refill.
D – Disability: Consciousness level (AVPU/Glasgow Coma Scale).
E – Exposure: Look for other injuries or conditions.
Learning this sequence by heart means you’ll be able to stay calm, act quickly, and earn marks in both your OSCEs and theory exams.

Studying while balancing work and life isn’t easy — but remember, small steps every day add up.
