Thieves steal vital minibus from Southwood Primary School

Thieves have broken into the car park of Southwood Primary School on 17 November and stolen our treasured minibus.

Although the minibus was later found, it had been stripped of its engine, doors and seats before being dumped miles away in Tilbury.

Southwood Primary School is based in the heart of Dagenham and its 600 pupils are now missing out on educational trips, days out and sporting activities.

The school has launched a fundraising campaign after news that the insurance payout will not cover the costs of a replacement vehicle.

Scott Halliwell (Headteacher) said: “For people to support us in this and help us get back up and running, literally, would mean the world to us.”

Nursery Full-Time and Rising 3 places for 2022/23

We are very proud of our Nursery at Southwood. The recent improvements to the internal space have made a great learning environment for our children, and we are looking at further enhancements to the outdoor space this year.

We have a small number of full-time places currently available. You can check to see if you are eligible for 30-hour free childcare using the following link: https://www.gov.uk/30-hours-free-childcare. There is also the option of paying for the additional 15-hours, at a cost of £75 per week. Our Nursery opens at 8:45am and closes at 3:30pm, and there is no charge for the lunch period (children bring packed lunch).

We also have a small number of afternoon places available for Rising 3s. We admit children as soon as they turn 3, following a home visit, unlike many schools where you have to wait until the following term. We prioritise siblings of children who already attend Southwood, but we also welcome families new to Southwood.

Reception had a fantastic trip to the farm. They made bread, fed the animals and had a very bumpy tractor ride.

We still have spaces in our great Nursery for September 2023. We offer 15-hour & 30-hour places, with no charge for lunch. We can also offer Rising 3s afternoon places. If you are interested, please call 02082704915 or email [email protected].
