Struggling to Sing Loud? Get Control of Quiet First.
For years, my voice was tense, breathy, and heavy. Loud singing led to strain and fatigue — my voice was reliably unreliable.
Training the shared part of the range—where chest and head voice overlap—was massive. Quiet, clear singing (no breathiness), moving through vowels, (with a lot of focus on a rounded lip 'ee', and gradually increasing volume while maintaining clarity hugely impacted my voice.
The outcome is more flexibility in tone and volume, creating more 'balance' and 'power', resulting in the experience of far less tension (although, tension is not inherently bad and I can use it when I want it).
It's not an instant fix, but hard work works & if you're willing to commit the time, consistently.
