🚨 ROAD CLOSURE ALERT: The Heads of the Valleys Road (A465) has now been officially closed in both directions between Dowlais and Bute Town near Merthyr Tydfil due to the escalating wildfire incident. One of several in South Wales.

Police vehicles are on scene blocking the main junctions with flashing blue strobes, turning traffic away as the wildfire controlled burn encroaches directly on the main road. Footage captures a completely quiet, empty dual carriageway illuminated by the intense orange glow of the nearby fire line.

WATCH: Controlled burn operations underway along the Heads of the Valleys Road (A465) near Merthyr Tydfil.

🚨 South Wales Wildfires
Contracted firefighting helicopters are executing continuous water drops on the mountain ridge directly above Corbett Street and Baglan Street in Treherbert.

The wildfire has tracked aggressively along the valley wall towards Treherbert, forcing localized precautions near residential areas. Ground crews from South Wales Fire and Rescue Service (SWFRS) and nationwide mutual aid units are currently working to manage the incident.

⚠️ ROAD CLOSURES: The top section of Corbett Street is partially blocked by fire engines.
