While βRun, Hide, Tellβ remains the gold standard for individual survival, the new βGuide, Shelter, Reportβ framework shifts the responsibility toward active incident management for businesses and venues.
The Three Pillars of Response
β’ Guide: Proactively direct staff and visitors away from danger towards safe exits or secure zones.
β’ Shelter: If evacuation is impossible, move people into protected spaces and initiate lockdown protocols.
β’ Report: Deliver precise, real-time intelligence to emergency services to streamline the response.
Why This Matters
This model moves organisations from passive reaction to active leadership. It emphasises that venue operators and trained security teams are the first line of defence, requiring:
β’ Updated Procedures: Reviewing emergency plans to include proactive management.
β’ Staff Training: Ensuring teams know how to lead under pressure.
β’ Regular Exercises: Testing lockdown and evacuation drills to ensure readiness.
By prioritising communication and structured leadership, businesses can significantly improve safety outcomes for everyone on their premises.

Field Training: Classroom to Capital
There is no substitute for the real world. This week, I took our latest Close Protection cohort into the heart of London for a live surveillance and orienteering task.
Watching the team adapt from the classroom to the high-traffic environment of the city was great fun; visiting Stratford, Covent Garden, Leicester Square and The Mall.
Showing the team just how important adaptability and flexibility are within our crazy environment!
Huge thanks again to Caroline Sullivan for her invaluable insights and .m99 of for adding the technical talks to the the day.
