Supporting our children's mental health in a digital age starts with a shift in perspective. Instead of focusing solely on screen time limits, we can foster a healthier relationship with technology through intentional habits.
These strategies help children move from passive consumption to active creation, building resilience and confidence along the way.
We recommend three practical approaches for families:
The 30/5 Rule: Encourage 30 minutes of focused, creative screen use followed by a 5-minute off-screen reset to rest the eyes and body.
Create vs Consume: Help your child transition from mindless scrolling to building and designing. Activities like coding, digital art, and robotics boost self-esteem and digital literacy.
Resilience through Debugging: Frame tech frustrations as 'bugs' to be solved rather than failures. This mindset builds emotional grit and calm problem-solving skills for life.
At ComputerXplorers SW London, we provide tech-positive half-term holiday camps, designed to foster these skills in a supportive environment. Call us on 020 7183 6507, or click the link our profile to find out more ๐
Digital wellbeing is about building intentional habits with technology. It is not just about limits, but about shifting from passive consumption to purposeful creation. Here are three ways to foster a healthier balance for your child:
The 30/5 Rule: 30 minutes of focused, creative screen use followed by a 5-minute physical reset to rest the eyes and body.
Passive to Active: Encourage coding and digital building over mindless scrolling to boost self-esteem and digital literacy.
Debugging for Resilience: Teach your child that tech frustration is a 'bug' to be solved, not a failure, which builds emotional grit and calm problem-solving skills.
Our holiday clubs foster creativity and confidence in a tech-positive environment. Call us on 020 7183 6507, or click the link in our profile to learn more.
