DON’T WAIT UNTIL YOU FEEL SICK

When was the last time you had a health check?

Some health problems can develop quietly without obvious symptoms. Checking your blood pressure, blood sugar, cholesterol, weight and other important health indicators may help identify problems early.

Don’t wait for symptoms before paying attention to your health. Prevention and early detection matter.

Have you had a health check recently?

YOUR SAFETY MATTERS. YOUR VOICE MATTERS.

Today, 17th September, is World Patient Safety Day.

As a patient, ask questions, understand your medicines and speak up if something doesn’t feel right. Safe care works best when patients, families and healthcare professionals communicate.

Do you feel confident asking questions about your healthcare?

šŸƒā€ā™€ļø TODAY IS NATIONAL FITNESS DAY

You don’t have to join a gym to become more active.
Regular movement can help protect your heart, strengthen your muscles and bones, improve sleep and mood, and reduce the risk of conditions such as type 2 diabetes.

The lesson today is simple: sitting less and moving more matters.

Start where you are. Walk more, use the stairs, dance, stretch, garden—or take a brisk walk. Small amounts of movement add up.

šŸ’š Your body was made to move. Give it a little movement today.

What physical activity do you enjoy most?

CARDIAC ARREST vs HEART ATTACK — KNOW THE DIFFERENCE

They are not the same thing, but both are medical emergencies.

Heart attack: Blood flow to part of the heart is blocked. The person is usually conscious and breathing. Call 999 immediately.

Cardiac arrest: The heart suddenly stops pumping blood effectively. The person becomes unresponsive and is not breathing normally. Call 999, start CPR and use an AED as soon as possible.

A heart attack can sometimes lead to cardiac arrest.

The lesson: Knowing the difference helps you know what action to take , and could save a life.

HEART ATTACK IN WOMEN - WHAT’S DIFFERENT?

Women and men can experience the same heart attack symptoms, and chest pain or discomfort remains common in women.
So why talk specifically about women?
Because women may also experience less-recognised symptoms, such as unusual tiredness, shortness of breath, nausea, dizziness, or pain in the back, jaw, neck or arms.

These symptoms can sometimes be overlooked or mistaken for something less serious.
The lesson: Don’t assume a woman must have severe chest pain before considering a heart attack. Recognise the whole picture and call 999 if a heart attack is suspected.
Know the signs. Act early. Save a life.

HEART ATTACK WARNING SIGNS - WHAT EVERYONE SHOULD KNOW
A heart attack doesn’t always look dramatic. Recognising the warning signs early can save a life.
Learn to recognise:
• Chest pressure, tightness, squeezing or heaviness
• Pain spreading to the arm(s), jaw, neck, back or stomach
• Shortness of breath
• Sweating, dizziness or feeling faint
• Nausea or vomiting
• Sudden unusual weakness or overwhelming anxiety
