I always link self awareness to health. Awarness is one of the fundimental basis of understanding yourself, your patterns and spaces that encourage and discourage you. โฃ

What do you enjoy doing or not doing? When do you feel present in the moment? How does that feel for you? Do you set aside time to enjoy these activities? How often do you need them to reach an equilibrium? โฃ

Once you know the places, activities, people and environments in which you feel most present you can start to incorporate these areas into your daily routine to ensure that you do not overcharge and enjoy your life!โฃ

Often we can envision health alongside appearance, losing fat, gaining muscle and looking ripped. But is that what health means to me? Without the collective desires, wants and needs, why do I want it? โฃ

Just because I do not crave a six pack does not mean that I do not care about my health. โฃ
โฃ
Health to me can mean staying hydrated, sleeping enough so that I feel rested, it can mean being able to walk around the park or hike up a small mountain. We are finally arriving at a phase where health can mean mental health and the ability to respect, love and empower myself!

I've been in the health and fitness industry for over 5 years now and it took me a while to take some time out to define what my health is. Being able to redefine based on my needs has supported me in decision making, encouraged my self-awareness and showed me that health is accessible, I just had to access my definition first. โฃ

I've slowly undressed the socially constructed perfect scenarios and paths that are seen as ideal. โฃ

With the current uncertainties around work, economy and health I've deliberately started investing some more time in becoming more flexible and fluid. โฃ

I've asked myself, 'do I want to do more? Why? What would be ideal for now?' โฃ

Our personalities are different, we all require and want different things, the important part of existence is to figure out your โimportantโ and do it with pride.โฃ

If thatโs working a 9-5 and watching a documentary before bed after work, hell yea! Rock that lifestyle with pride and joy! If, however, you are practicing this lifestyle and it somehow doesnโt bring joy, brainstorm some ideas that would!โฃ

If you are seeking for validation, to be seen or noticed take a step back. The reality is that no one should really need to validate you and encourage you. If you want to do something do it. No one is under the obligation to support you or believe in you. โฃ

Don't attach to opinions. โฃ

Consider shifting your values, perceiving with a different set of lenses and repositioning your focus. โฃ

Compliments come and go they're useless but your self-esteem and worth is not. Practice it.

I ponder upon this question from time to time to remind myself of the roles I've decided to engage in. โฃ

I ask this question to continuously get to know myself. The raw me, without the norms and external expectations. The me that is hidden in my subconscious alongside all my patterns, ideals, desires and core beliefs. โฃ
โฃ
Who are you? If I was to ask you, what would you say? Your name? Career? The subject you studied? Your nationality? How do you even answer that question? Would you go as deep as to suggest that you are an atom? That youโre the universe expressing itself? โฃ
โฃ
I often take the time out to see how many layers I have the courage to dig through and explore the me that I donโt even know. โฃ
โฃ
Try it. Understanding that you are nothing but the existence itself can put you at an advantage to have fun with life. I suggest trying to undress the socially constructed norms as much as you possibly can. How? Take some time in solitude. Observe your patterns, identify your beliefs and any auto driven behaviours that trigger you emotionally.โฃ

I've said it before and I'll say it again. Consciously Reflect.

Itโs fair to refer to this as self-worth which is purely based on who you are and not on what you do. Valuing involves appreciation and importance. If you lack appreciation and the understanding of the importance of your own self. If you fail to understand yourself, you may end up seeking the answers from external sources that provide the same stimulation.ย โฃ

A true sense of self-worth can also be fostered by practicing self-compassion.ย Developed by Dr. Kristin Neff, self-compassion is the practice of treating yourself with the same kindness and compassion as you would treat a friend. This involves taking on what Dr. Dan Siegel describes as the โCOALโ attitude, which means being Curious, Open, Accepting and Loving toward yourself and your experiences rather than being self-critical. There are three steps to practicing self-compassion:โฃ

1) Acknowledge and notice your suffering.โฃ

2) Be kind and caring in response to suffering.โฃ

3) Remember that imperfection is part of the human experience and something we all share.

What impact does this have? All of it. Many of our choices and behaviours are influenced by culture. The environment (culture) in which we grow up has the capacity to influence the way we perceive the world, think about it and process it in our own psyches. This is where social roles and regulation come in and where we define rights and wrongs of others and ourselves. Culture is where self-esteem begins to shape and flourishes or begins to shape and never does.ย โฃ

The important part of culture is to understand it, question it and become self-aware of it so that you can understand yourself, question yourself and become more self-aware of you.ย ย ย โฃ
